IR.net

Considering offers for IR.net / ir.net
  • IR has more than 120 different meanings according to IR - What does IR stand for? Acronyms and abbreviations by the Free Online Dictionary. including Infrared, Iran, Investor Relations, Im Ruhestand (German: Retired), Information Revolution, Inland Revenue (UK IRS), Interracial, and lots more.
  • IR is the ISO country code and top-level domain of Iran. IR.net attracts more than 80,000 visitors per month who are mistyping the net.ir extension of that country.
  • IR = "go" (infinitive) in Spanish.
  • Some very large companies are using this acronym.
  • You could start your own 3rd level "Iranian country code" e.g. domain.ir.net
Traffic: 83,400+ visitors per month ( >1 million per year), virtually all type-ins.

Revenue: About $38 per day on Sedo Pro ( >$1,100 per month). Screenshot below:

No BIN available at this time. I'm not in a hurry to sell but will consider all offers above a 5 year multiple. (I'm not "offended" by any offer so feel free to make any offer above $7,500, the current best offer.)

Payment by Escrow.com or Sedo Escrow. Buyer covers fees.

Traffic test available at $40/day prepaid.

Also listed for sale on DNF, NP, DS, GFY and others.

Offers received: $7,500

BIN $166,000 (12 year multiple)

I received lots of questions and below are a few comments to address them.

Traffic source
Most of IR.net's visitors are simply mistyping _______.net.ir domains (the Iranian .net TLD) as _______.ir.net. According to Webalizer stats 99.63% of the traffic comes from type-ins.

Thanks to its nature the traffic is very consistent at an average of 2,800 visitors per day. I expect that to double over the next decade (Internet penetration rate in Iran is currently at 27.50% of the population, up from 0.4% in late 2000.)

Clarification about BIN
Current BIN is only 12 years of revenue. There is solid interest at the 5 year multiple level, however I probably won't sell that low. As a premium LL .net domain with many different meanings, IR.net would be a $25k+ domain without any traffic whatsoever. Combined with the traffic and revenue, investors can acquire a unique top-quality gem that's very difficult to find on the market nowadays.

It's a domain, not a website
To clear up a common misunderstanding: This is "just" a domain, not a site. There's no work involved... just sit back and watch the visitors, or do something else. If you really want to work, you can try to increase the revenue by testing the domain at different parking providers and with different keywords, or develop a website on the domain.
