This is the letter I got today .... in my email

"Dear Mr. Mark XYZ,

The next letter you get will be from my attorney. I’m giving you 24 hours to remove any reference to our trademarked name “XYZ” from ads on Google, articles written, or websites published. Your current ad “XYZ =Scam” is slanderous and I will not stop pursuing every remedy of law to get you to cease and recover damages that your slander has caused our brand. Thank you for your prompt attention to this important matter."

Can they really sue over me giving their product a shitty review?

Nope. End of story. They can sue for anything, but they won't win in court. :)

I would post this letter of their's on the same review page.

Not sure if he has grounds to sue you.

If it was me I would take his IP and not show ads to it. He did email you right.... You have at least one of his IPS.

He must've complained to Ezine articles cuz they took my article down which was ranking right below his company URL. Im amazed he got my name right. I have whois protection on my site.

Dude, this guy is obviously pissed. My advice is take it down unless you want one big headache in the next couple weeks.

Unless it's totally worth it for you financially move on to product xyx and forget about xyz.

He already sleuthed out your name, and got your ezine articles taken down. And I guarantee he is just getting madder, and madder, and madder.

1: Do you have factual proof the product is a scam? <-- You'll win in court
2: Or are you merely expressing your opinion without facts to back it up? <-- Be prepared to pay up.

Without seeing your review or other written materials nobody on this forum can tell you if you have a solid defense or you're going to lose the case that will most likely be coming if you continue.

Do the sensible thing, are you making profit? because if you are then consult a lawyer and if not then don't try to be a fucking Internet rebel.

Drop it and forget about it and move on to something else!

Getting your Whois info is not that hard. When a attorney contact your whois protection guys. They need to give your info to the attorney. Sometimes like Godaddy they will charge you for giving your info to the attorney.

Yeah you probably did the right thing, especially if you've been targeting their trademarks on adwords.

When someone threatens you with a letter from their attorney just assume they are bluffing until of course you actually do get a letter from their attorney in which case I would first verify the letter came from a real attorney, then you know they are serious.

Just ignore until you get a real C&D, happens all the time, not a big deal. But if you do get a real C&D, I'd advise to listen, typically not worth additional headaches. Just be creative and change up your ad some if you have to, don't have to take a hit.
