is kanye west a marketing genius?

Wait, really? Cause I remember it being 100% one sided "Wow Brown beats women", I'm not really sure how it could have been construed otherwise based on the photo released of her battered face, STD or not.

It depends what tabloid you read.
All in all, more happened in that situation then we know, with kenye, he just douched it.

Not even close, Kanye is an idiot who doesnt think before he talks. If becoming a marketing genius means the entire world now thinks your a prick, then why would you wanna be a marketing genius in the first place

All this "Kanye is an idiot" talk from people that don't know shit.

He may be quite the arrogant prick, but the guy is a genius.

Very few people go from sleeping on studio floors to world wide tours. I think he's a douchebag for that little stunt, but he's still smarter than most anyone who is weighing in on this as if their opinion matters.

Oh right. The I kissed a girl, girl. I like her voice.

EDIT: She also looks alot like that actress Zooey Deschanel (in Yesman and the Happening)

ZOMG :zzwhip:

kanye will probably sell a shit ton of cds next album he drops ... he'll probably have some apology song for taylor on it ..

so yes ... i think hes a genius

And yet no one banned Chris Brown's music....hmmmmm. Apparently it's ok to beat up a black woman and survive the music industry but take the spotlight off of a really cute little white girl for a few moments and the radio stations are up in arms.

(oh yeah. I went there)

Nobody banned his music, you are correct on that, but his Doublemint commercial mysteriously disappeared :)

As a sidenote, what is it with everyone being a complete fuckface to Turbolapp today? Is she not allowed to have an opinion?

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know an asshole when you see one.

Just sayin

Man I love Kanye, love his music, his beats, his lyrics, but I really wished he didn't do that. I felt like it was staged for a second but man so much bad plubicity.

He did however apoligize on Jay Leno and in other ways. But still it was so stupid of him, never drink so much before an award show.

I hope this doesn't affect his tour date in November lol, his Glow In The Dark Tour was amazing.

For all the outrage, almost everyone benefited from this. Perhaps everyone including Kanye. MTV gets the buzz, Jay Leno has his 2009 version of Hugh Grant. Taylor Swift's name is out there and extends her time in the spotlight, plus is the sympathetic victim. Beyonce gets the mention by Kanye plus she and her family look good by comforting Taylor Swift and giving her the mic, etc. Kanye stays in the press, gets to do an apology tour, etc. I can't thing of a single person hurt by any of this. Of course MTV, NBC, and all those big corps are the big winners, but Kanye helped a lot of people get a lot of publicity.

and BTW Zooey Deschanel is hotter than katy Perry and also a better singer.

No but this guy is -> imaletyoufinish.com

No it's not me but I heard about it on the most popular radio station around here...

No offense Turbo, but you were all over that gay ass wedding entrance video when it came out (I think you even posted a thread about how cool you thought it was) - you do realize that was Chris Brown, right? I'm quite sure all the women that helped popularize that gay ass video made Mr. Brown a metric fuckton of money with increased sales of an old song, less than a month after he plead guilty to assaulting Rhianna.

ooooh good catch. Although honestly I don't remember if I made the connection at the time.

But you miss my point. My point is it's GAY to ban music period just because of they're behaviors. BECAUSE then you wind up with a stupid slippery slope of questionable ethics ( on the side of the banner) when you choose to ban people for a social impropriety while choosing not to ban for an actual federal offense. I guess it's one thing if radio stations choose not to play something because no one wants to hear it but to say your going to all out ban an artist from there on out is just stupid.

bad publicity is the best publicity in showbiz - why? People love to talk about pointless shit and then will anyway walk into the itunes store to buy kanye's song with that 1 line apology to that 19 yr old country music chick. 'nuff said.
