Hi could this possibly work?
01) Figure out untapped Niche
02) Do market research to find keywords I could compete on
03) Create blog, content, etc
04) Do Seo
05) Get affliate offers
06) Profit?

I am interested in trying to make say 2 or 3 dollars a day. Eventually I would like to get up to 200 sites (maybe in 2 - 3 years). Does it sound realistiic? Are there any blatant flaws in it?

Thanks

Make 10 sites that do $10/day each instead.

Trial and error boii!

Thanks for the response.

Eventually, as I get better, I will make more money. Just, as a complete n00b, trying to be realisitic. Do you see any flaws in the strategy that I have outlined?

Yes. There is a lot to learn along the way. Expect some failures, that is where you learn the most. In the end, you win if you don't give up.

Thanks. I expect failure and agree you learn the most from them (famous chessplayers and football coaches study their losses way more then their wins). play2win.

You've got the basic framework. Each of your points will require some trial and error as the others said, but doing #2 well is your most important to master early on if you want to earn.

It seems #2 is the only createive aspect. The rest of it is seems very process based. I am using market samurai and have found quite a few keywords I can take over. My next step is to find affliate packages (as opposed to finding the packages and then trying to find keywords for it.... soemthing I might play with in the future).

Best & thx for the response.

If this is REALLY your first goal then forget about finding affiliate offers right now. That can be done at a later date after you have a few sites up that are getting decent traffic.

"I" would suggest that you start a blog about something you enjoy or have a good deal of knowlege about and would like to write about it.

Be sure to get PAID hosting somewhere and BUY YOUR OWN DOMAIN!! Don't fall for the "Domain included with the hosting" crap.

As was said above, there is A LOT to be learned outside of just marketing a product in this business. Once you understand hosting and domain registration you can then move onto a CMS (Content Management System) for your site.

Wordpress will most likely be your best bet to begin with. Keep in mind that learning HTML, PHP, and MySQL will help you quite a bit. Even if you hire the work out it helps for "YOU" to understand how these things work.

Once you have your blog up and are getting traffic you can then monitize it with Adsense. You should be able to reach your above goal relatively quick so long as your blog engages your visitors.

Your first site should be done correctly without the use of "Tools" (I.E. Xrummer etc...) so that you get a good feel of things first. Then later you can make use of such things.

I would suggest starting out with your own original content and search this board for Blog Threads to see how others have set things up.

Once you have a successful blog that's making money it will be MUCH easier for you to "EXPAND" into the other profitable areas of Internet/Affiliate Marketing.

Money and Time also have to be considered when deciding which route to take. You could follow your outline above and maybe knock it outta the park and hit the ground running.

OR

You could get overwhelmed and quit like 90% of IM/Am'ers who try to get into this business.

As said above, "Those who NEVER give up" and keep TESTING and trying things out WILL MAKE MONEY!!

I wish you well in your endeavors.

P.S. Why have 200 sites making 2 or 3 dollars a day when you could have say 5 to 10 sites, like Clyde said above, that are REAL sites. This would be best over the long haul. Not only would the sites themselves develope value over time, but if you set them up correctly and learn to BUILD ACTIVE LISTS and MAINTAIN THEM, money will NEVER be a worry again. Seriously!!!

Yes, setup your sites with SEO in mind, but if you build lists you don't have to depend on Search Engine traffic to get your offers in front of people. With properly maintained lists you have qualified prospects ON DEMAND. You can even use your lists to test out offers before setting up a site around them to if it would worth the time and effort.

The most important thing about lists is this, YOU OWN THEM and they cannot be "sandboxed" or knocked off the front page of search engines.

The money really is in "A Properly Maintained and ACTIVE List!!"

Ok, it seems that you're set on AM with a network or someone else's product.

If you are proficient with Market Samurai then you're not as much a n00b as I was lead to believe in your first post of the thread.

Ignore my basic hosting and damain stuff as it would seem to be not needed for you.

Ok, ALWAYS DO RESEARCH to find traffic and an interest. Then go look for a product to put in front of the interest or traffic.

NEVER, I repeat NEVER get the product or setup a site and then try to do the keyword research for traffic or interest. This is and always will be backwards of how to do this to make money.

The part on List building in my above post just maybe the most useflul information I've offered you today.

Good Luck!!

Hi & thank you for the very long detailed response. What I do for a living is computer security for banks so I am pretty familiar with technology.

I said 2 or 3 dollars because I thought it was realistic as opposed to someone who says something like I am going to make 500 a day on my first site. (I anticpate both failure and being realistic and those are both fine and expected).

I will be finishing keyword research this week and next. I will buy my domains from go daddy and a friend who is doing local marketing will provide me a hosting company that will give me a vps, unlimited bandwidth and the machine will be running linux which I will have root on.

The reason I am more interested in affliate marketing then e-commerce is it seems easier then me. I kind of like the idea of "death by a 1000 cuts" and targeting niches where I know i will dominate as opposed to taking on more mid level competetion and playing for more money. Just a different life strategy. Like someone who has a balanced portfolio as opposed to high risk vs high reward. I personally, like slow and steady.

I will be using wordpress and plugins. In the past I have used editors like Dreamweaver or Frontpage. I will be setting up small blogs / sites. The basics of a site and a few articles, blah blah blah.

From what I understand about Adsense is that it is PPC. I am trying to stay away from it. Based on cursory research and what i have seen friends do I believe i can crack the frontpage of google without doing that. Also I have heard it can be dangerous and people can end up crushed just based on one campaign. I think if i can crack the frontpage without it (which does seem doable) I will avoid it.

My ultimate goal (without sounding greedy or unrealistic) is 200 sites making 5 - 10 dollars a day. I live in NYC but I will be relocating to Medellin, Colombia in 25 months. I believe on that kind of income I will be fine.

A lot of people talk about lists and I sort of understand it but as much as I will probably get flamed for this my plan is for people to find me on google and then convert like that as opposed to having to market to a list. Of course I will collect emails but utliatemy I am looking for the majority of my income to come from sales via affliate links as opposed to having a list. That being said I have heard from quite a few people who I respect and are trying to mentor me that the list is everything. They pretty much have said the exact same thing as you so I will really have to think about that strategy.

I will look over that thread and thank you so so much for takign the time to write such a detailed response.

N00b is relative and I have yet to make any money so I feel that i am a n00b. New but learning quick. I am spending a lot of time reading this site, and going through products people have given me so I am learning.

The hosting / domain stuff I will be ok on. The list stuff you echoed what so many people have told me I just have to figure out how i will incorporate that.

I didnt know to stay away from the site first keyword last. Personally, I planned keyword then affliate product searching but I have heard on videos it discussed the other way. I will read over the post with the list definitely. I think I should be ok as I am techinically profiecient, have good mentors and I have a pretty understanding of human pysche.

Another thing a mentor told me that you echoed was not to "cheat" the first few times using automated tools or hiring people like dfp or google sniper so that I could get a feeling for it myself. Also no need to spend money if I dont have to.

If there are any links you think are must reads and wouldnt mind posting them I would defintely read them. In the meantime I plan to have my first domains bought next week and my goal is 2 sites a week. I think this should be doable.

Again thanks for tkaing time to help me it is super appreciated

You are thinking of "Adwords" which is PPC that you pay for. Your keyword reasearch will be of GREAT use to you if you ever decide to use it.

I suggested Adsense which is were YOU GET PAID when someone clciks the ad that was placed on your site by Google.

They two totally different things.

Glad to see that it's really only the AM that you need help with. This means that you really are HALF WAY to your goal already!!

I'm pretty sure you'll make your goals.

I'm looking for a "throw the newbie in the fire icon." Got it. I will look into adsense, that is great.

Thank you so much for the suggestion.

As for the AM I think I should be ok. I was wondering if the strategy was viable. The other issue will be findinig affliates but I am learning about clickbank and I know google has one so I should be able to find products for the niches. If not there is always product creation but that might be biting off more then I can chew. Will def let you know what i think of the list article later. Thanks again for all the help I was really clueless on the dif between adsense and adwords

Thanks for the encouragement if you are ever in Colombia or NYC let me buy you a drinnk!

Does anyone know if there are any good threads / posts or products that cover what I want to do?

If you have to ask this question, I suggest you should better learn the following topics - "How to use google for searching ?" and "How to search a forum" . Once you have learned this, you can proceed with your first step ( 01- Figure out untapped Niche... )

Actually I was curious if there was a 1 stop shopping but thanks I am pretty sure I know how to use google. No need to be a jerkoff and flame ish.

Go here: BizTorrents :: Signup

Since you did computer security for banks I'll assume you know about torrents. If not, just get uTorrent and install it.

The link above has TONS of stuff on marketing. It is a One Stop Shop/Barrow for aspiring IM & AM'er's.

I use utorrent and a private tracker called the vault.bz if you know what that is along with elbitz. There is an overwhelming amount of products I was just wondering if there was one that everyone agreed was the best.

Again I appreciate ur time unlike the other dude who was just hating lmao

If you're at The Vault, which I"ve been a member of for years now, then you most certainly don't need to be at BizTorrents since The Vault has more.

Do a search for "Mini-Sites" at The Vault and that should get you some stuff on setting up the sites want to do along with how to link htem and get traffic.

Awesome. Thank you so much! I will do that when I get home.
