Is this reality? rental prices

People who pay those kind of prices to RENT in H.K. and Singapore are nutts. Absolutely crazy.

I already feel bad enough dropping $1.2k a month to my landlord, knowing that I'm paying his fucking mortgage and owning nothing in the process. I can't even begin to imagine paying a 5k or 10k rent. God. What's wrong with people?

A lot of Singaporeans do genuinely think that they own their properties. They don't. Unless you buy freehold properties, you are still practically leasing from the government since most of the properties here are 99-year leasehold (though there are a few 999-year leasehold and freehold ones).

Why do you consider all of the wickedfire members are singles? I got kids and I will never live in that shitty country like thailand with horrible education standards. When you have kids, you will most likely choose a safer country for them. Till then enjoy your life.

Just to clarify on $10K a month rental. My friend lives in my condo and renting a penthouse for which he pays $16K a month. Beat that. Its fairly common to pay $4K+ for a condo rental in singapore.

I am sure I can rent a house in a very good neighborhood in the US for 5000-6000$ a month :)

Converted to USD, the rental is nearly $10k per month or you can buy for $4.25 mil

Do not want. Do not want Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia yikes.

The Hong Kong property market is really nice if you own properties and rent them out. I love this city and I couldn't think of any other place I'd rather want to live.

To be honest though, I'd probably wouldn't be nearly as happy if I did have to pay rent here. Also the laws here favor the landlord so you can be evicted at a drop of a hat.
