Glad he had the presence of mind to not shoot the last one in the back. If he did, this story probably would have ended with him being brought up on charges.

Definitely FUCK YEAH! icon appropriate material.

Too bad he shot 'em in the torso and not the face.

He must live in a pretty rough area if he answers the door with a gun in his hand.

Maybe he should invest in a peephole. Then he could just look outside, see the fookers with hoods and scarves over the faces, and just not answer the door...

I have no problems with this guy defending himself with his gun in his home.

What about the other 84 people killed by guns that day in the US? Oh right, 46 of them were suicides and 38 were murders.

Well, seems like a decent trade off, I guess.

^^How about the other unreported incidents of self defense with guns where no shots were fired? If you are going to throw around numbers don't purposely ignore the estimates that firearms are used in self defense in the neighborhood of 1,000-5,000 times per day (or even more).
Guns and Self-Defense by Gary Kleck, Ph.D.
A national survey conducted in 1994 by the Police Foundation and sponsored by the National Institute of Justice almost exactly confirmed the estimates from the National Self-Defense Survey. This survey's person-based estimate was that 1.44% of the adult population had used a gun for protection against a person in the previous year, implying 2.73 million defensive gun users. These results were well within sampling error of the corresponding 1.33% and 2.55 million estimates produced by the National Self-Defense Survey.

Agree. Defensive use of firearms is less sensational than gun crime, and thus ends up in pop media less often.

Here's a good read:

Media Bias About Guns by John R. Lott, Jr.

From the piece:

I often give talks to audiences explaining that research by me and others shows that guns are used much more often to fend off crimes than to commit them. People are very surprised to learn that survey data show that guns are used defensively by private citizens in the U.S. anywhere from 1.5 to 3.4 million times a year. A question I hear repeatedly is: "If defensive gun use occurs so often, why haven't I ever heard of even one story?"

Obviously anecdotal stories published in newspapers can't prove how numerous these events are, but they can at least deal with the question of whether these events even occur. During 2001, I did two detailed searches on defensive gun uses: one for the period covering March 11 to 17 of that year, and another for the period July 22 to 28. While these searches were not meant to be comprehensive, I found a total of 40 defensive gun uses over those two weeks. Some representative examples:

why would you answer the door to 3 young men with hoodies and bandana's over their faces.. seems like he wanted to open fire..

You mean 38 preventable murders, had the victims been carrying a weapon?

That dude is fucking badass. What he did was completely justified, and those kids are real lucky he didn't succeed in killing them. That's a badass senior citizen right der.

Why Not Regulate Guns as Seriously as Toys?

Bill would require all Sth Dakota citizens to buy a gun

Friend of mine over there put forward this solution.. don't bother with trying to control guns, as the cat is well and truly out of the bag. Instead, control the sale & manufacture of ammunition.

Why control the manufacture of ammo?

I can make ammo myself with common equipment from walmart & the hardware store.

People who wish to regulate firearms don't realize how amazingly easy it is to make one. $10 and a trip to walmart would end up with a home-made double barrel shotgun.

Also , interestingly enough , our suicide rate is ranked #39 at 11.1/yr per 100k. Japan is 24.4, South Korea is 31, Finland is 18.3 , France is 17 , and Canada is 11.6.
