I think it is great she has pulled it off. The media are now saying she is going to have a net worth of 20 mil in the next couple of years... that sounds like a good deal of cash for her efforts... I really think good on her... she is now set for life.... worst case scenario she has an experience that had all of Australia talking at some stage about her...

100% at 16 years of age, she would have bigger balls than most 'ballers' on here to so what shes done. And to document her jouney the way she did, and the media deals after her return, all I can say is bloody good on her, that task would be worth every cent of it I reakon. The role model she has now become will do benefit more than she knows.

When I was 16 I was doing some crazy shit. Hell, by 12 I already broke my two new "adult" front teeth while downhill longboarding in the Catskills, an ankle while inline racing, several fingers in a fight club, and arm on a quarter pipe.
I did everything from street luge to mountain bike to snow boarding so I don't consider what she did ballsy, instead a feat in thinking big.
The difference between her and any other teenage thrill-seeker is she had the funding, technology, and (sorry for being politically incorrect) she's a pretty little white girl. To give her props while I loved scaring the shit out of myself I never would of thought of breaking a world record since I didn't think I could get the money or sponsoring for that.
So kudos to her...
But, what she's doing isn't REALLY that spectacular; what's spectacular is her being the first. It's one of those things that everyone else is going to do now that someone else did it.
Would anyone here have the balls to do what she did? Maybe not.
BUT
I wouldn't do any of the X Games shit I did growing up now either... (When you grow up you realize how dumb some of that stuff really is.)

Is it celebrating with all of Australia amazing? I don't think so.

Not to take anything away from your accomplishments, but if you've ever been in 25' - 40' sea with gale force winds, 1000's km from land and in a little boat to boot.....it's classed as ballsy in my books. There's you, the boat and the sea. Live or die right there if something goes wrong, or hope you're close enough to land to be rescued, if you had time to launch a life raft & the EPIRB fired off.
Wasnt this already done like 20 years ago? Just read a book about it the ships name was Dove as was the book based on the persons life

Many people her age have been in plenty do or die situations and her trip was surprisingly placid compared to past circumnavigators.
I love technology, but don't you think it's kind of weird that she was giving interviews while on the trip?
It's not like she was FULLY alone. At one point her parents even flew over her in circles while they talked on the phone.
To me the ballsiest achievement in that fashion was Charles Lindbergh's. Navigation back then was a BIOTCH.
No, true, she wasn't fully alone, in the sense in that she could communicate via SAT phone/internet. But then who is 'alone' these days?
And I find nothing weird in that she used Sat technology to talk to the world. Just a sign of the times IMO.
Plus SAT communication means jack shit, even if your parents are buzzing overhead or your chatting to ABC news, if your boat goes from under you. You're all alone then.
And while she had a calmer circumnavigation then some of those before her, she had no idea what the weather held in store for her when she left. That was one variable that's in the hands of chance. And it wasn't all easy sailing as she did suffer 7 knock downs i.e. the mast rotated 90+ degrees and hit the water or submerged, with the boat once going upside down.
You're right about Lindbergh et al though. But those times will never come back for that sort of adventure as the world has moved on too far & become much smaller.
