Job Interview - WTF do I wear...

This is true, but considering my rent is $1200 per month...

Wow. My single is only like $750/month and that's because I'm near all the food and main business area in my city. My sister's apartment a mile from her college was only about $680/month and it was nicer than mine.

I assume you're in a more expensive area than me though, like Chicago or NY.

I live in a bachelor apartment in downtown Toronto.

It is walking distance from school, and there aren't really any cheaper places around.

Even living with roomates would cost around $900/m

I am working on finding a different place, though.

I know, it is ridiculous, but I am trying to get things figured out - this past year, everything has just gone clusterfucked...

Yes, I am a copywriter. Getting clients and keeping them is not the issue - the issue is I have grown to genuinely hate making other people money when I should be doing the same for myself.

Have you thought about partnering up with another writer who isn't as good at marketing? This would allow you to assume a marketing/editor role and not feel as burnt out when it comes time to write for your own sites.

Yea, this is something I am considering. Just raising my prices a little and then outsourcing the work and keeping my cut.

It seems to be working well for everyone else...

Hey man, shoot me over your contact information with a resume if possible. Are you looking for a full-time position? We need graphic designers/programmers, but might have something for you (with more of a communications role) contingent on how a new product launch goes next week. I'll be in/out of the office until the 19th, but even if I have nothing for you -- I'll at least forward your resume to a few digital media companies around here.

Would be awesome if we could have a section on WF where people in similar situations can post their skills, arranged by geographic location.

WTF should he wear to your interview? :p

I'd personally show up in a moo-moo. Like this:

That's pitiful. I feel guilty eating french fries, how do fat people live with themselves?

TLDR.. the OP wanted a manual labor job where he didn't need to spend his creative energy...which would then give him the time to build his business after working hours.

One thing I didn't see here was...know what the company does (products they manufacture, sell, etc.) that you're interviewing for...sounds retarded and maybe for manual labor it's not a big deal, but I've interviewed countless people for web related work that didn't even visit our website prior to the interview.

Hi,
