...for downloading something (it doesn't specify what) back in September.

They are going after "1,000 John Does" and I'm one of them I guess. No clue what they could possibly want. How can they just go and subpoena 1,000 people?

What should I do? Should I be worried?

Providing any information is a good way to incriminate yourself. I wouldn't reply to them without consulting a lawyer first.

Is your ISP a big national company or a small local one?

It's Charter, which is pretty big

did it come certified... they should have your personal information already.

Came certified mail from Charter. The document says that unless I object to the subpoena by Jan 13, Charter will release my name/address/etc. to the plaintiff.

I'm not that worried, but I've been needing to get a lawyer anyways.

That really blows, man. Got to lawyer up now like others have said. Because it could be bullshit, or it could be some fucks at the MPIA/RIAA wanting 100k per song/movie you got.

This is why is SSL everything, tunnels can be as cheap as $10/mo something to look into.
