Consider his action a newbie mistake. He just gave you a little more information and insight into his own methods (although it doesn't sound like what either of you are doing is rocket science).

Delete the comment, ban the IP, and research his landing pages for anything he may be doing that you are not. (Or keep it open, let him continue to provide you free information).

And change your attitude, think about how an action can benefit you before you think about how it irritated you are that it happened.
 
There are certainly more constructive things to do... If you're going to "post a thread", "read replies", "decide what to do" and "do it" for every jackass that spams you, well... you arent going to get much done that is going to actually make you money!

I'm liking the idea of xrumer'ing his site with revolting and beastly keywords though..
 
Step 1: Try not to care about your peasant competitors who obviously suck at their job
Step 2: If you forgot step 1 than post on WF about your competitor spamming your blog this will surely stop it from happening
Step 3: Contemplate a DDOS attack
Step 4: Refrain from step 3 unless you live on an island like Malta and enjoy this type of humor to show peasant competitor that spamming you really wasnt a good idea
Step 5: Ask WF member lukep why he revived a year and a half old thread
Step 6: Just unleash a boatload of spam comments to your competitors site everyday until he contacts you about it
Step 7: When competitor questions you about the spam say "I thought that you wanted me to do that since you spammed me"
Step 8: Rinse & Repeat
