Just got my first true mechanical keyboard

I typed on a shitty $9.95 keyboard for years and it damaged my fingers and arms to the point I couldn't type anymore. I eventually got an ergonomic keyboard (which I paid out the ass for) and it fixed all my problems. If you're going to spend 15 hours a day typing you might as well get the best tool you can. There's a reason why mechanics buy several high quality wrenches instead of a $9.95 all purpose wrench.

I do miss mechanical keyboards though. I remember raging and throwing one against a brick wall. The only thing that happened was a few keys popped off. Try doing that with any modern keyboard.

I agree but there are proper tools and those that are overkill. Mechanical remind me of overkills.

So will the next fad be digital typewriters? Or mice with balls in them?

LOL, why would a mouse have a ball in it?

PS: I purchased Qpad MK-85 yesterday, after seeing this thread. Saw someone above have it and love it. Makes me feel good about my purchase. I am not very hesitant when I switch gear. I hope I love it.

I have a $1000 Herman Miller embody, based on my last office chairs that costs a fraction of it, they are not nearly on the same level. On the other side we are talking about keyboards which won't make that much of a difference.
I don't think it matters how much of a difference it makes compared to a chair considering we can't measure that. It's an accessory that gets used >10 hours/day for a one time fee and makes work more enjoyable. It's also evidently not for everyone, just as the Herman Miller isn't.

LOL - people going back and forth about a keyboard.

Who gives a shit, spend your money on what you want and disregard what the fuck other people say or do.

Personally, if I wanna buy a $5k keyboard I dont see or care what anyone's thoughts are on it so when someone says the money would be better spent on a some Herman Miller chair I just disregard what they say. Same goes for someone buying a $600 used Honda and telling me about it, I could care less what the fuck they do and I for sure am not going to tell them they did the "wrong" thing.
