I eat at this diner type place pretty often and I almost always have the same waitress because I go on the same days around the same time and sit in the same place. I tip very well occasionally and more normal amounts most of the time at probably a 20/80 split. The logic is that if I always tip her well, her service will slack off since she will always expect to get the bigger tip, so I just give her the bigger tip intermittently.
