I'm with you 100% The Wire has amazing writers. I love the way they carry themes through and across seasons and it's not so obvious as with Dexter.
I've easily seen the entire Wire series at least 5 times and I always pick up small details.
I'm a Dexter fan, but I have to say I was less than enchanted with it this season. I didn't have that need to see what was going to happen next like normal.
I also thought it was creepy of the writers to include this Deb loves Dexter plot twist while they were going through their divorce. Things must have been awkward on the set.

I must be smoking some good ass crack because The Wire is on another universe than Dexter in terms of TV shows.
If The Wire is a novel, Dexter is a comic book.
The Wire > any TV show ever made. And there are literally hundreds of thousands which will argue you to the death, more than any other TV show out. I don't usually cite such nonsense, but the fucking show has an average of 9.6/10 on IMDB with nearly 50k votes.
And I'm a HUGE Dexter fan.
This finale was good, decent season, a good bounce back from the 2 previous seasons which weren't as good IMO.
I liked Mos Def's character a lot. Dude can really act. Colin Hands played a good sicko. Overall good season.
