Keep Fighting Internet Blacklist Bill -- S.968

Even if you give fuck all about government censorship and lack of due process, this will DESTROY jobs.

----
A letter signed by 160 entrepreneurs, founders and executives responsible for more than 300 technology startups and 65,000 jobs stated that if the PROTECT IP Act were to become law in its present form, “it will hurt economic growth and chill innovation in legitimate services that help people create, communicate, and make money online.” Venture capitalists who invest in these technology startups also communicated their concerns with the legislation, writing that “the bill is ripe for abuse” and will “threaten legitimate innovation.”

The MPAA and the RIA are some of the biggest Lobby Thugs in the world's history... Just a step below Big Pharma and Big Oil... Do you guys really think they're going to give up when this bill is defeated? They're likely putting together 2 others already.

for real these 2 groups are disgusting. they are the epitome of how to be a total asshole corporation. the RIAA sues children. that's all you really need to know, lol

Who knew that our corporate leaders and lawmakers were such big fans of Orwell and Huxley that they want to turn their fiction into reality? Bravo.

They aren't going to listen to petitions and non-violent protest, this bill or another just like it will get through and stop average people from becoming informed and enlightened from the free exchange of information, that shit isn't good for business.

God damn this country and those in charge of it, I hope the MPAA and RIAA are obliterated violently with extreme prejudice for the sinister shit they are trying to pull.

I asked this in another thread related to this, but does this effect .onion sites as well? Is it even technically possible? I never got a clear answer on that.

This bill sounds completely unconstitutional! Goddamnit this shit pisses me off!

what the fuck is going on in this goddamn country?

Corporations (and their influence) are too strong. When they control the laws, the media, and the conversation things go completely to shit.

It has nothing to do with socialism, communism, liberalism, entitlements etc. It has to do with the fight between democracy and centralized power. You can be both 100% pro capitalism and 100% pro democracy. Thats what made America great, and thats what keeps America great.

With all of our government (and the parties which make it up) completely bought, the only thing saving us right now as a people is our constitution.

It needs to be strengthened. We need amendments which stop the federal government from bailing out private businesses, which state that corporations are not entitled to personhood, and which limit the amount of influence they can have in government.

And we need people to stop being so fucking lazy while they get screwed over daily. Say whatever you want about OWS and its lack of effectiveness or cohesion, most of us are not doing shit to change the problem.

The article mentions that this bill would hurt job growth too. I'm curious as to how they arrived at this conclusion.

Anyone?
