I have a main keyword phrase and a few secondary keyword phrase.

I'm setting up a wordpress blog and wondering whether the blog title should include just the main phrase or should I try and squeeze as many phrases in as possible.

For example, I could go with

[banana bread]

or

[banana bread, banana bread recipes and banana smoothies]

I usually try to find the keyword combinations. so for you example I would go "banana bread recipes and banana smoothies" because "banana bread" is already in that 3-word keyword (bbr) you don't need to repeat it. I scan for combo's that help me pull a couple keywords out of 1 strongly packed sentence.

So for instance I'd look to see what related keywords can be found that have a word in front of "banana bread" like maybe "sweet banana bread" and then I'd add that to the combo like "sweet banana bread recipes and banana smoothies" That way you are getting credit for "sweet banana bread" "banana bread" "banana bread recipes" and "banana smoothie"...
Works for me.

Are you talking about the blog title or page/post titles? If you were able to secure a domain with your main keywords in it, that should be repeated in your blog title. The in url and in title attributes gets pretty good juice. If it's pages/posts your thinking of, I would find a number of good secondary keywords and use them all with good on-page SEO. You could use Google's keyword tool or I've even used their linkwheel to come up with some good KW ideas.

What can help Ar Scion is to do a Google search for your keyword phrase, and scroll to the bottom of the page and check out the "searches related to ___________" section.

I just did a search for "banana bread," and "searches related to banana bread" came up with this.

easy banana bread
healthy banana bread
moist banana bread
banana bread with chocolate chips
banana bread sour cream
banana nut bread
banana cake
banana bread muffins

banana cake

Just some rocket-fast keyword research to throw in if you need a few related LSI keywords.

I have the list of keywords already.

I'm just looking for the most SEO-friendly page title/tagline.

Not individual blog titles.

Thanks for the advice though.

Try to have your main kayword included in your title, meta tags and tag also in your h1 tag and the content of coure if you're buliding a wordpress blog but If your making a squeeze page try to not spam it all over the page.
