My kids (10 and almost 12) had their first day of school ever in the U.S. today, and they loved it! The transition from their Norwegian school wasn't as difficult as I feared it would be for them. They already made a few friends and came home with big smiles on their faces - all excited.
Plus, getting them back into the daily grind is good for both their and our mental sanity, lol. Like others have stated, it's so hard to focus and get real work done with them home on summer break. They were bored out of their minds some days but now they'll be gone from 8 till 4pm.
