Kiss Yahoo Goodbye!

well some of the ads i seen this week for teeth on media buys were clearly taking the piss.

The images of before and after were pretty horrific and were overly agressive. It made me think that this can only go on so long.

I have had multiple ad creatives rejected at other ad nws and they werent even half as bad.

Im talking about black lips with mad mad yellow teeth - looked fucking insane. One step too far methinks

haha - just heard on world news that yahoo has posted dissapointing financials because of the weak advertising market.

Oh the irony. TAKE OUR FUCKING MONEY. please.

It's true but how long will it last? Yahoo is publicly traded and their shareholders won't be too happy when their financials start suffering even more than they already are.

My hope is that RMX's 33k sites are not included in this clean up. I am guessing that it will only be Yahoo's owned properties. Also, Yahoo DOES make money and they beat the streets Q2 forecast today. Yahoo grabs billions of eyeballs every month and once the economy solidifies and the branders return, trying to hit your CPA goal on remnant display will be your worst nightmare.

This sounds like confirmation:

Bartz said the company would continue to tweak its ad platforms in an effort to close the Google gap - on both the search and display side. But she also said the company would cut down on the ads that may annoy people.

"We need to ensure our ads are more relevant and quite frankly less irritating to users," she said. "We're now focusing on search and display adds [on Yahoo! owned and operated sites], improving relevancy, decreasing frequency of some ads, and potentially eliminating others."

This is all part of that $75m outlay. "It's important to put this number in perspective, especially in contrast to the billions in advertising revenues we generate," Bartz added. "We're confident these are the right ways to get us on the right path." ®
Yahoo! lavishes $75m on self ? The Register

This does suck in a major way for a lot of people, but the gravy train has reached the terminus. Now find another train to board, or be stuck at the station.
You guys are aware that there are still plenty of offers out there that have decent payouts for single sales, without rebilling the customer, right?

what are some of the networks you recommend

All the engines are trying to encourage SEO over PPC for many offers that get a lot of action in the affiliate world. It is kind of strange that they still allow these results of bad offers in their natural results which they don't make a dollar off of but they eliminate them on the section where they make their money.

I could give a shit about the Yahoo PPC program. Maybe if they didn't take 2 fucking days to approve one shitty ad I'd be a little more upset. Their system has been flawed since day one so I'm not going to lose much sleep.

We're not talking about PPC campaigns getting stopped (did you READ the post?), we're talking ppc, media buys, Y! Mail links the whole fucking thing is going away.
I love when my reply just quotes another post.

The worlds largest single digital advertising platform has had it. They have had it with the flogs, nogs, narticles and farticles. They have had it with the consumers complaints of not being able to cancel their re-bills. They have really had it with affs pulling off T&C's, qualifiers and disclaimers after they get approved by their editorial department.

Coming within the next few days Yahoo will go from the "grey area" to "black and white". Rebills will be chased out. Granted, the big re-billers like Netflix will be grandfathered. The rest of us, honest or otherwise, will be gone. From display to ppc, it's over and "we" brought it on ourselves. From diet, teeth whiteners, wrinkle creams, stretch mark, toenail fungus, bissopps, cellulite creams...you name it and we fucked it up..

Don't believe me? You will very shortly. Can we kill this fucking industry any faster? I think not.

Let the useless dick rolls begin.

Enjoy,

D

I hope Yahoo doesn't go over the top and try to screw affiliates that are promoting legitimate products and services like Google as done. Google has absolutely gone way over the top. I am pretty sure Yahoo will just weed out scammy offers, I don't see them trying to screw affiliates promoting legitimate offers.

Come to think of it...I don't care if Yahoo folds altogether. Their news is generally lame. The Mail is way to damn slow. The only good thing is the porn you can find in Yahoo Groups. I'll be sad to see that go. I lost all interest in Yahoo a few years ago when the discussion board went away. Now those were some good time. Nothing like trolling the Yahoo discussions.
