Even a ridiculous amount of "sin" taxation wouldn't equal, much less exceed, the percentage of current market prices created by the legal climate.

Obvious example from history:
Booze was expensive as fuck during prohibition.

FYI: What people consider our "drug problem" isn't actually a drug problem. The crime, corruption, and destructiveness of addiction is all directly tied to the costs of drugs being grossly inflated by counterproductive laws.

Depends if they allowed people to grow it for personal use(and they should). Any idiot could grow weed in their house. It's literally a weed. Tobacco on the other hand is hard to grow.

If a magic switch were flipped and everything was legal tomorrow, prices would be higher for a bit. It would take some time for supply businesses to spring up and established companies to add dope to their product lines.

Once things were rolling on the supply end, pot would be cheaper than cigarettes (pre-tax ass rape). Why? Pot is a MUCH easier / cheaper crop to grow and harvest. I doubt even the hardest tax ass fucking would bring those prices above current street prices.

/coke would be insanely cheap.

Anyone who says prices would increase is an absolute moron...or at least too lazy to put in the proper research. The blackmarket has a tendency to artificially inflate prices on all goods that pass through it. The legality of anything greatly reduces the supply, while rarely effecting the demand to the same extent. Take a look at street prices for opiate like pharms compared to the cost per pill with a valid subscription..with our without insurance..

As it turns out, the lighting setup he needed used so much juice, being on 24/7, the local police saw spikes in the household electricity, which they apparently monitor on all of us. This is what I was told, but I still don't believe this was the cause - anybody ever hear of anything so silly?
