I am fed up with them now they keep on shutting me down for cpu ive never had that issue before they were taken over but Im getting ready to get back into paid advertising and running some campaigns, i dont have time for the slowness or being completely down..

I am thinking of running with one of beyond hostings vps plans or Softlayer's dedicated. I know dedicated will be almost double the price.. would it be that much of a difference in reliablity/speed ? Also if there is something better at a better price/quality etc please let me know

Im going off notes from a few years ago

I switched from Hostgator to iWeb, and they have been rock solid so far with really good support.

Hawkhost and Stablehost are other good options. I have been using them from lest few month. No issues yet.

Burst, Host24 or SecureLayer (I've got coupons for all of them if interested). I like going with slightly smaller firms because you can demand better service from them and get rate cuts, rather than going with the larger ones. Of course by smaller, I also only go with ones that have been around for a while and have uptime (no fly by night providers).

Anyone on here use skynethosting.net? been thinking about using them for a few sites, their site seems fast, their prices seem low, anyone hear anything good/bad about them?

looking for hosting a bunch of domains with ip diversity, something like cloakhosting but with a working phone number for support... any idea's?

So I bought a dedi from SYS (The server for all your projets - So you Start - owned by OVH, they've rebranded recently - everything is the same, except for a different control panel and the website occasionally lapsing into French.) £39 a month ex. vat, plus a pound or two for another IP. Installed Cpanel, I think it's on a trial, but it's not too expensive when it comes out of trial. All was very very easy, I think I'd set an A record once in my life, but this wasn't difficult at all. If you know what basic things like Mod_rewrite are, and how to use Google, you'll be fine. I no longer have to worry about PHP script limiting or any of the restrictions shared hosting puts on you, and I can give a site an IP anywhere in the world within 10 minutes, plus use separate accounts for separate sites to keep things organised.

I'll be finding someone on WHT to do some basic server hardening, as well as someone that I can go to for when any problems are over my head, but those both seem fairly reasonably priced. From a security standpoint, the fact that I can completely disable functionality that I know a shared host would have to give, but I'm not using is a plus, as well.

Seriously, I don't why why I've been using shared hosting for so long.

Almost a week with them now, and other than the initial setup, I haven't had to do any maintenance at all, other than installing mysqli yesterday, which took less than a minute. New IPs are set up within a couple of minutes of ordering.

moved to liquid web and could not be happier. lightning fast and best support that we could have ever imagined.
