It's more like the following scenario:

You confide in a friend who also happens to be within the same business industry as you are, and you trust that whatever you tell them, they won't go do it themself, instead, they'll give you their feedback on it, and wish you well with your ideas/plans of success. It can even go so far by telling them what you are doing and how you are going to do it, and still, all you want is feedback and constructive criticism at most. That's what friends do. They don't say "oh I don't know", jot down everything you just said, and then go behind your back and do it, and then you find out that your friend just became a competitor. What do you do when that happens? Just let it go? No, you confront them about it. But what if they pretend they don't know what you are talking about, and then you hear about them doing the saaaame thing to other guys? What then? That's why I made the thread here, publicly too. Because he did wrong, and I just want him to acknowledge it, fess up, and apologize, and also know that from now on, people will know beforehand before they come to him with any idea for advice, feedback or criticsm. Is that too hard to understand?

So basically this thread is worthless until he "fess's up" ?

Let's now assume he doesn't ever reply. Which I would think he shouldn't have to based upon your burden of proof or lack thereof. Wouldn't that make you look like the ass?

You can talk and talk and talk but in the end who are you convincing, those that will take you at your word?

Why don't we rise up to another level here Jon?

Honestly, I could care less what people think or say about me, here or anywhere else. I brought it onto the forum so that he would see (which I know he read it because his IP was logged yesterday). So my job is done here. He now knows, whether he'll ever acknowledge it or not, that the word is out to some extent that he can no longer jack ideas from his friends, because now, I hope at least, people will think twice before they tell him anything. It would be kind of funny if he wouldn't come out with any big new projects for a year or so, maybe then it would show that people took notice of this thread and and balked the next time they considered asking for his advice on something new. But we can only hope I suppose. :1orglaugh:

I cant believe the default skin for that forum, even the Vb logo is still there!!

How old the forum is makes no difference - setup everything before launch

Esp. if your charging subscription.

ps - A-D you blog's design still sux.

Jon, I understand that you don't want to talk about what Lee may have done to others without getting their approval first, but you repeatedly keep saying Lee has copied some idea of yours.

Please, elaborate on what exactly Lee copied from you, because so far I haven't seen in this thread what it could have been (though there are a lot of posts so I could have easily missed it). I'm not saying he didn't copy something of yours, but I, like others, would like to know what Lee did to YOU.

Ironic eh?

A forum about forum building, not built properly. :1orglaugh:

In that case I would be even more pissed if it was an idea I was looking for feedback on instead of one to pass on to my friends to use.

Either senerio I would be pissed like you but I'm more of a "bust your face on the curb" kind of guy so very few if any words would have came out of my mouth...it would have been a front porch visit. :angryfire:

Hahaha one of my first posts in this forum was regarding how LEE closed threads over in EF about adult domains and someone asking a general question about the adult industry. He stated he closed the threads because there are right ways to make money online and wrong ways.

So apparently he dont like adult domains and adult discussions on his forum because it is the wrong way to make money...... BUT STEALING I guess he considers to be the RIGHT WAY to make money.

Hes a fucking douchebag, the best part of him ran down his mothers leg at birth. If they would have thrown him away and kept the afterbirth the world would be a better place.

FUCK HIM,

I don't think the subscribers paid to see pretty layouts, designs and graphics.

are you speaking for all of the subscribers? Maybe some of them are paying to see pretty graphics :uhoh2:

i pay to see pretty things all the time :love-smiley-086: ...well not really but lots do

This reminds me of an episode of The Simpsons, where Homer shows Mo how to make his secret drink - the Flaming Homer. Mo then steals the recipe, calls it a Flaming Mo and makes a fortune!!:angryfire:

D'Oh.

Well, that's the exact case. Going to him with an idea that normally you go to a friend with, and regardless of how great the idea is with making cash, you respect your friend enough that you don't take what he just told you and do it on your own without permission either. And what's more, even if they do give you permission, all they want is a little credit for it, so when you start preaching that you came up with it on your own and that it was all you with no help, that's a real slap in the face too. Maybe in Texas (where Lee is) things are different, but I consider myself a pretty loyal friend to people and respect them and their projects, even if I know they are going to make millions with it, I won't touch it, because it's their area, and I also know, just from common sense, that doing so would cause a lot of unnecessary drama and bullshit and probably the end of the friendship, and while I may not have any business ethics, I do have friendship values.

Just pisses me off that's all.

OK I was gonna hold off my opinion but what the hell, I can take a little bashing :)

A) Unless he was told point blank he couldn't use the idea, is it really stealing? All your assumptions about whether he should or not use it not withstanding, I'm just trying to ge to the bottom of whether it was "stealing" or not.

B) I think what hasn't been discussed here is the type of person Lee is. He's one of those guys that shares info now that he's successful. In fact using ideas and methods that were successful for him or that he's seen others do and be successful is actually what his radio show is all about isn't it?

I don't agree with everything Lee does or says I just think that when it comes to forum building and promotion he believes in using what's out there info wise.

Now if I'm wrong and you told him that the information was in strict confidence and he blatantly took it and was like kiss my ass, well, that's a different story.....

So in your book, your friends have to stress to you dont fuck me over or if they dont its OK?

Id hate to be stuck in a foxhole with your ass!

No doubt. That really isn't a friend.

That be like my best friend screwing my wife because I didn't tell him not to.

I'm not saying he didn't copy something of yours, but I, like others, would like to know what Lee did to YOU.

  • The Azoogleads contest idea.
  • The "crazy $20,000 contest".
  • The radio show (which he actually said he liked my idea, but didn't think he would do it himself -- a bit later he had one). But I don't really care because his focuses on forums, and mine clearly didn't even though I scrapped it.
  • He was asking me about my niche project with the millions of sites, and asked me how I did it. I didn't share much, but then saw that he was going around on his forum and asking mutual friends on how to do it the way I was doing it specifically, or if they knew any inside information about how I was planning on doing it too.
Now granted, the first three are really minor and didn't but me all that much, but the last one really got to me. Especially after I heard from other big players that we both know that he was SPECIFICALLY trying to get what I was doing to replicate the whole damn thing. Now, if he were successful at doing so, and would have made the money we did on it, do you think he would have for one minute said "thanks for the inspiration Jon" or "I took this idea from Jon and innovated it." No. That would never happen. If I ever used an idea from a friend, I would give them full credit. I haven't done it yet, but a bunch of my friends have let me gain access to some really cool new things, but granted they want it kept a secret, so I'm not going to come out and say "Thank you BLAH for letting me use your secret BLAH".

Whatever, I know my stuff isn't such a big deal to you guys reading it, but it bugged the shit out of me, and I kept it inside and kinda just brushed it off, but what really got me fired up was when three more guys started telling me about recent things that they mentioned to him and that he was either trying to steal it or was going to do it sometime soon, that right there got me thinking "enough is enough". And mind you, their issues with him are 1000x worse than mine too, and if I were allowed to come out and say so, most of you would see my point, their point and completely agree that something very deceptive was done, and that's all there is to it.
