Why not just preach ideas of non-aggression and peace without all the other bullshit that accompanies religion? Watch the documentary man... these monsters are fearless. The concept of a high and almighty god is the only thing that can scare them. You think they'd listen to a Tony Robbins or a Deepak Chopra teaching them how to be good and attract good? They'd rape and kill them.

Don't confuse rationalization with causality.

Religion doesn't kill anymore than guns kill. It's always an individual behind the trigger.

Strange, because I met a Liberian recently who said the country had been improving economically, especially after that Harvard woman had been elected. Not sure if he was exaggerating or if the country was even worse than it is now, which is likely due to the war. Gonna check out that doc.

You'd be surprised how often you can use a semicolon; sometimes, you can even make up sentences to show how to do it.
 
i watched the entire video; i bookmarked it for future 'perspective management' purposes, to be used the next time i want to flip out about finding a hair in my hotel room shower.

Sure, but if it's peace we're after, it's counter-productive to achieve it through a belief system that includes consequences of extreme violence (like burning forever in hell) for negligible actions.

People don't need invisible sky ghosts to keep them in check, they need an exposure to basic logic and reasoning. The whole "finding god" route to peace is just a fucking ploy by religious profiteers.
 
Have a few friends from Liberia and I can tell you these people don't fuck around, great to joke with and have a good time but never get on their bad side... Never. Vice always kind of uplays things but they are def a crazy class of people.

At the end of the day, you've got very little power to change what other people think, and no power to change it if you're going to chuck other people's belief systems in the garbage.
 
There are plenty of countries in Africa that are screwed up, Liberia is terrible but so are others.

I personally knew a guy in Charles Taylor's cabinet. He came to the US for fundraising, mostly did it in Manitoba though (Much more successful there for some reason).

Democratic republic of Congo has a median income half of what Liberia does. So, the quality of life you see in this video - imagine half of that.

There are 9 countries in Africa with median incomes under $1,000 per year. Liberia is right around $600.

Most people use semicolons incorrectly; they're supposed to be something in between a comma and a full colon.

I recommend doing a semicolon cleanse and using an em space (—) instead.
