I'm torn between starting a local SEO company that offers Web 2.0, and rankings, and other SEO benefits or starting a directory similar to what the $200k thread talks about...

Any suggestions? You guys who run Local SEO gigs, what kind of services do you offer? This will be my first time doing anything local and I'm a bit torn on what to offer as you can see.

I dont run a local SEO company, but I get contracted SEO work from word-of-mouth on top of my full-time SEO job. It's best to start cheap and do your best - it will lead to more business and thats when you can start charging more as your reputation grows.

I do the full SEO deal to the best of my ability (it's a passion for me) and constantly offer my clients new ideas/methods to get more sales/leads. Don't just "sell rankings" like a bitch, sell individual shit. Keyword/market research, meta tags, content optimization, press release link building, link research, article marketing, competitor analyses, tracking/reporting etc. You have to know your shit too. I have a big ass list of things I pitch to my clients cause they really know nothing about SEO or the interwebz. I started at $20/hour which equated about $600-700 a client per month. But now I'm at a $30 an hour with 3 current clients, which is a beast ass side income.

The local stuff sure is interesting. Im into seo and do well into the six figures with just seo services.

There is a lot of opportunity in offering local SEO services, because of the many variations in keywords that become relevant. Practically every business is trying to rank higher in searches and concentrating on local markets can position you to sell your SEO skills to a large variety of businesses in specific niches.

every business is getting on the SEO bandwagon. and there's lots of unethical SEO/SEM companies who dont know that shit. that's when we come in

I've started to hear that alot of 1 and 2 man teams are cleaning up after crappy SEO work. Now I need to figure a way to convince potential clients my biz is better than their current one.
