Local SEO

Are you trying to sell them the entire package?

i.e from creating a web presence (create a website) to promote it locally
OR
Are you only promoting businesses that already have a presence.

Let me know when around and would love to chat. PM me

Good point again. BTW, I just want to say thanks for everyone PM'ing me and posting in here. It has really helped me as well as others (since we are able to collaborate fairly detailed due to being in different areas).

So here is what I'm doing currently:

-I haven't yet begun to pick up clients as I'm still testing the waters on my local SEO skills with dummy pages for local business keywords.

-I've got tracking setup and am getting at least 5 visits a day, which for some businesses is an extra $6k a month (this makes it easy to convince the business owners to buy my business services)

-I've installed Analytics to track all pages.

-My partner has started working on sales scripts and searching for businesses that are not yet open in our area (that way we can help them get immediate exposure).

-I'm working on learning the tricks to ranking in the google maps/local business rankings that come up.

-I found two competitors in my area, but they don't seem to be targeting the same way I am or in my town. I'm planning to gear my plans more towards SEM, social media, and web 2.0

Still pretty nervous about all this though because I don't feel like I have much structure yet. I'm not rushing to launch it though, also any of you guys who have sales script templates I'd love to get ahold of them if possible.

Yes, I'm going to be trying to sell it in packages. I'll be doing both businesses that do not have online presence, and those that do. Preferably ones that need to do better online, or bran new businesses who need a jump start.

I dunno about the free 2 weeks personally. A lot of people will just take the trial and cancel, costing you a lot of time and money.

I disagree. This is risk reversal. Sure, a couple will cancel but it's a promotional cost in the same way that direct mail or cold calling are promotional costs.

Never work for free. It devalues your service. Put together a summary analysis of their KW ranking, competitors, links etc. Most won't have a clue how you found this info. Then give them an action plan - say 4 weeks - at $x per week.

Are you suggesting a 100% conversion rate with a 40$ spend per lead?
Or a 10% conversion at 600$ per lead?
Or a 3% conversion at 1300$ per lead?

Cheers.

You mean "the fear of losing something you already have is greater than the fear of not gaining something you don't have"? I agree, but wouldn't they have to notice an increase in business during the trial to feel that they had something to lose?

it was at 100% because it's just theoretical. Obviously those are not the real numbers I would be using.
