Logitech Wave KLeyboard

He is - THE CACTUS!
The typo in the title wasn't intentional, but sort of prooves my point here.

At the office, we jsut got in some new hardware (yay! 50% gov rebate for comp hardware purchases over $1,000 before July 31st for Australians!), and we fancied up with some ergonomic keyboards.
For some moronic reason, I picked the Logitech Wave keyboard.

this thing is the most annoyign keyboard I've ever had.
For a start, the keys are not straight, nor are they flat. They sort of raise and dip, like a wave, so that some keys are slightly more raised than others.
I type fast. Like 100wpm+ fast. Most of this is based on keeping my fingers gliding over keys. With keys no longer being level I'm typing keys out of sequence a hell of a lot more than I normally do.
And the shape! They keys curve towawrds the F keys at either side, putting them slightly out of kilter, and less space between keys. There's more space than between, say, a laptop keyboards keys, but not the same amount as with a regular ergo keyboard.
The bizarre thing behidn this is that thigns like the Shift and Enter key are actually raised further up, so you have to depress them further than normal. Dropping a lot of capitals and line breaks here.
It also doesn't have a scroll bar on it, or internet usage keys (back, forward, find on page, etc)

It's got a few nice features, such as a media bar at the top which allows you to quick launch your media player or photo folder, or (oddly enough) Yahoo! Widgets easily enough... but so does a custom setup of Startkey+F? if you know how to set it up.
The Alt+Tab is good actually, as it sits at my left pinky and I can jsut tap it really quickly.
The Start key is small enough so that you don't constantly hit it during tasks when you're trying to use quick keys.
The number pad actually works really well with the rounded shape for some reason. Actually, the number pad is a much better user experience than normally.
There's also zoom buttons. Considering I like to mess about in Photoshop, or get really good close ups on porno, this is kinda useful.

Anyway, if you're going to be spending $60 ($85AUD) on a keyboard, don't get the Logitech Wave.
If someone buys it for you as a gift, sure... It's better than the $5 one you get when you go into a shop and say "Gimme a keyboard for typing on my internets", but I'll take my MS Intellitouch Pro any day.

God damn "Ergo" keyboards are for fucking yuppies.

Been typing for 10 years now and my wrist is fine. (with regular laptop)

I just can't justify spending $60 on a keyboard, I usually just get the cheapest one I can find. I don't need any extra features.

That microsoft one is probably the best ergo one you can get, but i personally prefer the apple aluminum keyboards, the laptops and just the keyboards, i like the low keys that are spaced apart a good distance, one of my biggest problems with laptop keyboards before this was the keys were crammed.

Microsoft perfected the ergonomic keyboard a long time ago so I wouldn't mess about with any other brand. The Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 is the bomb and after a couple of days you easily get used to it.

That's what I've been using for years. They have great deals at Micro Center, I pick up a few at a time.

I've been thinking about moving to something a little more extreme, though... maybe one of those split keyboards. I've been typing for over 20 years.

I use the new apple keyboards on both my pc and my mbp. These things are expensive as hell but the tactile feedback and speed at which I can sling out words is awesome.

Go check em out..

I had the Wave for several months and thought it was decent, but upgraded to the diNovo yesterday.

the Wave took about a week to get used to, but after that you'll be fine.

Just got this a week or 2 ago, was easy to get use to and so far I love it, but for some reason I think my typing speed has suffered a little bit.
