I cannot for the life of me figure out how can anyone in this industry have liberal views ?!
The government wants to rape everyone hard with taxes, regulations and litigation, yet so many people here do not seem to understand how important are basic economic freedoms to everyday functioning of this industry. You might think it is only "shady scammers" have to worry, but every two-bit socialist punk in a state legislature feels entitled to tax your affiliate monies, not giving a shit that ruining your business actually reduces the amount of revenues states collect. This is just the affiliate tax issue, everywhere else you look these statist policies are threatening our business at every level. What happened to the concept of personal responsibility?
Why would you people want to live in a nanny state that wants to regulate when you have to wipe your ass? In California we had a nutjob lady who introduced a bill that would give prison time to parents who spank their kids: Should Spanking Be Banned? - TIME. No surprise, this 40+ year old bitch had no kids of her own, but wanted to dictate to every other parent how to raise theirs. This is just one egregious example of what is wrong with these Big Government idiots.
Of course the media and the education system serves up plenty of socialist poison, but shouldn't adults think for themselves?

Not really, Michigan in general is extremely disillusioned with the unions. Most of my liberal friends are even anti unions at this point.

Yeah, in a scientific poll, 5% more of the people identify as democrats. Scroll to the bottom and you will see that the difference in April was 9%.

I am in this industry, and i do OK, and i have liberal views. Because i think its ok to fuck and marry whomever you want. I think women should be in charge of their own bodies, and the government has no place in the bedroom OR doctor's office.
If conservatives are so anti-big gov, then why do they want the government to decide the big social issues? Big brother indeed.
Fiscally? everyone should be able to make money. i LOVE the free markets and i think they are something that makes this country the best. I am a fucking patriot.

those are views that the progressive movement in the US has latched on to. at their core though they are views that value individual choice, liberty and freedom - which in my opinion is the true core of constitutional conservatism and small government republicanism (as it was intended, not as it exists today).

example: republicans disagree with the health care bill. they are representing their constituents who dont support it and dont want yet another unfunded entitlement program. rather than work it through, the left (including prez) make accusations ranging from "party of no" to racist to anti american. the left couldnt get their way so they are demonizing the opposition rather than working with them.
(i'm no big fan of the republican party - just using the above example as an illustration. most of the GOP are tards too.)

Realistically people hate both the Democrats and Republicans I believe. But what are you going to do?
Neither party is going to help us. Republicans help monopolies, Democrats help monopolies. Neither has anything to do with fiscal responsibility or has any true interest in small business. Small businesses customers are just the customers the politicians donors failed to get.
Beyond that, the party that even pretends 'fiscal responsibility' is important to it has a social policy that's full of absolute fail, and is pretty abhorrent to most people under the age of 25-30 in this country.
Seriously, this is what I want: Fair taxes, no corporate welfare, no warrantless domestic surveillance. At this point, that's fucking all. And there's no mainstream party that endorses any of those ideas.
"Liberal" and "liberty" come from the latin "liber", which means free. Neither party has really had a truely consistent message throughout their history. "Vote for us if you want freedom, but first we have to ban alcohol!" :costumed-smiley-087

If you want to make monies, do drugs and post boobies, you are not a liberal, you are libertarian - like Ron Paul.
Now, why is Ron Paul, the Great Libertarian, is a member of GOP? Because our electoral system inevitably results in two-party duopoly and if you want to have any kind of impact you have to pick the lesser evil. I support GOP because in my view economic liberty always has to come before anything else. If you are willing to sell yourself into economic enslavement just to be able to do drugs, in my not-so-humble opinion it is a really bad deal.
So if you hold libertarian views the rational course of action is support GOP's libertarian wing and try to keep Sarah Palin types from taking over the party.
First of all, Bill Gates is no longer in business of making money. He is in the business of philanthropy and giving his money away. When he ran Microsoft he used to support Bush. In case of many businessmen support for Obama if anything is tactical and situational, but in the end coming back to bite them. PhRMA, the pharma lobby, thought they would get a better deal with health reform and guess what? No matter how much they concede this is never enough for liberal Democrats. Same thing goes for Wall Street. If you refuse to fight for your economic rights and give up, you deserve what is coming to you.

This group is just a baby step, but at least it had some impact last year educating state legislators on the problems with the affiliate tax.
I do not want Big Government to decide the big social issues. I support GOP's libertarian wing that is constantly at odds with GOP's social conservative wing. It is pretty clear though that these social issues are fading into background and the only way GOP can get back in power is by promoting fiscal responsibility and free enterprise. They are gradually starting to realize that they will have to let people fuck and marry whoever they want to get the swing vote.
What am I going to do? Support the lesser evil, which on the balance I believe is GOP.
Not participating in political process at all is 100% guarantee of getting screwed. As they say in DC, if you are not at the table you are on the menu.
Nah, you can be into the above; but also believe in a role for government in promoting the best interests of society as whole - in other words, a Liberal.
Socialism is the above taken to extreme. But it's a matter of perspective.
Personally I'd respect republicans a lot more if they ditched the social conservative bit; and concentrated on fiscal responsibility and libertarian views on lifestyle choices.
