lol look at these threads

I like the idea of a quiz, but I also think that if there would be a small payment required to join the forum it would weed out a lot of spammers. Profits could go to charity

I say ask what other forums they read and if they say DP redirect them to a fake WF where every link is a dickrool and all the information makes no sense like their posts

This way they think they are in WF and dont keep retrying

I don't think requiring an amount of posts or any other quiz will stop people from being dumbasses. The only option is just if you ask a stupid question or are involved in any other acts of douchebagery you will get the banhammer.

Don't let people post in any other section until they've made 10 posts in the newbie section.

This + a quiz to graduate from the newbie section is the best idea. That way if they are experienced, they are forced to contribute. If they are a newb, they are forced to ask questions. If they are a troll, they are contained.

A small fee to sign up, or to be able to post?
To sign up in the first place is a bit bogus, because you have no way of assessing the quality of a forum if you can't even see it without paying. I always assume anything that "exclusive" is basically going to become a small incestuous pool if in talk and very little quality info. DNF's upper echelons is a great example, and I only keep my secondary account there to keep an eye on decent domains that are going.
A small fee to post, like $1-$10, would help weed people out if they were going to be useless.

I like the idea of a quiz though. a combination of actual marketing questions (a bit more than just SEO, if you'd please, as there are many other good traffic methods) as well as questions about some of the more reputable members or forum memes. Shows who's been paying attention.

I think it would be enough to just block the BST forum for the first 100 posts.

This would get rid of all the ebook cunts at least.

*I do this with my place at a $67 pricepoint, and I set permissions for guests/free members to be able to read SOME of the forum sections, and only SOME of the actual threads. No noobs - or they learn quick.

*Limit thread creation until 10 posts in other threads, limit PM permissions with the same. Create promotions (once you reach 40 posts, you reach the next level and can access/do x. Each level allowing more freedom (siglinks, images, access to other sections)).

*Send them an automatic first PM with all said rules and most important things for noobs NOT to do, make first steps threads/posts or refer to them in the message.

*There is more than enough ppl and resources and eyeballs to separate the free lurkers with limited viewing from those that pay and follow an initial set of rules.

Shit, I'd pay to be here!

This the perfect idea.
