Looking for a New Computer

How'd you get such thin bezels? What are those Dell monitors?

He took the bezel/case off the monitors

Not Dells.

"No, vega uses samsung s23a750ds and a s23a700d. They are 120hz TN displays."

If someone is going to blow 3k on a computer you can get a way better setup if you put in some time versus just buying 1 shitty apple/dell monitor which is 1/3 the budget...

That shit is fucking tight. Main reason I haven't messed with eyefinity is I can't stand an inch of combined bezel in between each monitor. May have to look into it a bit more now.

I don't know about saying that TN is the way to go bro... in my experience TN sucks compared to IPS. Just got this monitor and I can't tell you how much it blows away my old TN. That's if the motherfucker still works after getting rained on.

As far as Apple vs PC.. I really don't know enough to comment, other than there's no way in hell I'd spend the money on a mac considering what you could get in a custom PC for the same or less $$$

Never said TN was the way to go. The Catleap/Shimian montors are IPS

Never understood why Windows fans get so angry that people use a Mac. Especially since most of them have no clue how one works, yet trawl the internet to find a small negative they can wheel out like some sort of "fuck you".

Well done. You continue to sing about how great your clunky, inefficient, interruption of an OS is. I'll continue to use my Mac and spend my time working, not worrying about why someone has a day-glow disco box with 43 fans while I have a gorgeous piece of computing with a sweet OS (OSX).

I don't tweak my shit and keep it running. I turn it on and use it. I want my computer to work for me and allow me to work, not annoy me and interrupt me with it's stupidity. Continue...

Well done. You continue to sing about how great your restricting, dumbed-down, interruption of an OS is. I'll continue to use my PC and spend my time working, not worrying about why someone has a brushed aluminum chassis with a fruit on it while I have a gorgeous piece of computing with a sweet OS (Windows/Linux).

It's OK, I know you're angry. I can tell that you read wikipedia furiously for 20 minutes before replying and don't know much.

1) OSX is made to work on certain chipsets and will install on those without any issues. It takes about 5 minutes to find out what it will work on and if that isn't worth saving $1,000 on a purchase to you than you are just plain retarded.

2) It's not even a close comparison to say a "good linux" that is just misleading.

3) I never said it was a FreeBSD kernel. I said it was based on FreeBSD. And it is, probably moreso than you believe.

1) I looked again, because it's been a while and I did find hardware lists fairly quick, but it will still take a good 3 hours to get everything going. After reading some of the forums people are having issues even with the hardware list. I then decided to see how hard it would be to find a laptop. Good luck with that. Every laptop I saw that was "compatible" had one issue or another. Granted not all of them were big issues (bluetooth, the mic, and a few other things didn't work on the best choice), but who wants to carry around a mic with their laptop. Even the best choice required "tweaking". I'm not really sure what that entailed, but that's also not something I'm interested in doing anymore. If I had to guess the average person is like me. They want to do what they enjoy on it and what they enjoy isn't messing around with it to get it to work. If that's what you enjoy then more power to you go build a hackintosh or mess with a laptop until OSX kind of works on it.

2). It's not miss-leading. If you can use the cli with Linux you'll find yourself right at home and it's the closest thing you can equate it to for the average person who's slightly familiar with Linux, but no other UNIX / UNIX like operating system. Yes, if you're a hardcore Linux / FreeBSD user and not one of the recent Ubuntu converts then the comparison is silly, but I'm guessing the OP or Dresden isn't that familiar with Linux and has probably only touch it enough to be dangerous. To someone like that looking at the CLI they'd look very similar (the same can be said for any UNIX / UNIX like OS).

It is FreeBSD with a Unix kernel.

3) Okay, you're correct you didn't say it was the FreeBSD kernel. I tried to give you the benefit of the doubt and assumed you meant the FreeBSD kernel. You said "It is FreeBSD with a UNIX kernel". It's not a UNIX kernel unless you're talking about leopard (not sure about the newest version released). Saying it is FreeBSD is like saying it's Linux (what Mach is based on). It's a hybrid.

I'm not mad or using wikipedia. I'm one of probably 5 people who frequent this forum who has wrote stuff that runs in Ring0 for Windows, Linux, FreeBSD, and OSX.

I might select the ASUS one physically since it needs to be quieter and offer better cooling in this set. Those leaf blower coolers that blow out the back of the strategy are very loud and they are created for PC's without any countless case airflow. The HAF 932 has a significant amount of airflow within the case so the character of cooler the ASUS one has might be better.
The standards on that monitor are awesome but I can't vouch for the dependability or general standard as I've never heard about the brand.
You are plugging your monitor into your illustrations card, the motherboard doesn't require a HDMI port...

Total cost was about the same as a Retina MacBook Pro :D

To me a 27 inch multi-touch screen is a lot more satisfying than specs.

Touch screen desktops... anyone used one? To say they completely fucking suck is generous.
