Looking for a New Computer

when windows 8 comes out all yall niggas will be jelly

When windows 8 comes out all of the next gen laptops and desktops will humble your set up, nearly every major manufacturer has a touch screen desktop and laptop lineup ready to go come October.

pfff maybe, but I get to enjoy the beta 2 months early and get windows 8 for $15 at launch

Sike, this thing is designed for windows 8 and came out this summer. Itl be on par with the October releases, it costs more but itl still be on par

It won't be on par.

As mentioned, you have a mobile CPU, a shit GPU, and a joke of an HDD.

It'll just be more expensive.

If I were you and had the 3k budget I would do a 15 inch Macbook Pro Retina, 27 inch Thunderbolt display, wireless keyboard and mouse.

I would install Windows on the Macbook for my PC specific programs. When you are out and about you have the portability of the laptop, and when you are home you can dock it and enjoy the beauty of the 27 inch screen with the wireless keyboard and mouse.

Would cost you about $3300 total.

I agree with the above. Macbook Pro Retina display all the way.
I bought one and absolutely love it. Such an amazing computer.
I do love Macs though, would never touch a PC again in my life.
You can always get Parallels to run Windows on the Mac leaving you with the best of both worlds.

If it becomes too low end I could just build up a super powerful custom and use this as a multi touch monitor.

The monitor is the main thing I'm paying for.

Doubt I'll need the extra performance though.

I'm fairly certain no one here is jealous. What's the point of touch in a work environment? It's not efficient. We have one, it's in the kitchen, for cooking, where you don't want a keyboard and mouse.

And now you have 3 screens, one of which is touch? What the fuck were you thinking?

Building a custom rig is the way to go. When its time to build a new rig in a few years you don't need to buy a new case or power supply or hard drive (maybe). Easy to upgrade and cheaper.

Why the fuck did you make a thread asking for suggestions, then not only ignore every one who chimed in, but bought the absolute last thing any of those said people would've bought?

$1800? Do you know what you could've built for that amount?? Did you just walk into Best Buy and ask the salesmen what to buy, and bust out your CC? Wtf, Return that piece of shit.

People usually ask for other peoples opinion to validate their own.
