About a month ago I needed some really high end design work.

I simply browsed through the sites and contacted the designers with my project.
Get ready to pay for quality. I'm very satisfied though...

That's what I thought too but my experience proved otherwise. Most likely, "noway I'm paying $X" attitude will also mean "no way you're getting that HIGH quality that u want buddy". I'm sure this is not what u wanna hear but this has been my experience. So to sump up: pay up or settle for lower quality or keep looking.

Exactly. If someone is a "high quality designer," why would they be charging low prices? It doesn't make sense. High quality designs take time and skill, and there are plenty of companies willing to pay that premium, so they have no reason not to charge high prices.

As a point of reference, here are some typical prices I pay designers for my legit stuff (sites I actually spend time developing, not MFA sites and not affiliate landers):
- Splash design: $1000
- Site design: $1500-2000
- Logo: $800-1000
- App graphics: $600-1000

If you're trying to get a "high quality" site design for a hundred bucks, it's not gonna happen. And usually if someone is a "high quality designer," you'll be the one approaching them, they won't be spamming a thread looking for work because these guys are usually not even available to start on your stuff for days if not weeks.

Hit the nail on the head with this one. As far as I go personally I've been swamped for weeks, just now is time opening up for me. But, the prices that I've been seeing in some WF threads is just insanely low.
