Did mostly backlinking today. I'm looking into making a program that will grab keywords from Google Keyword Tool, but that will be later, probably when school starts.
1. Found longtail keywords from the keyword tool, and then found probably 40 backlinks for 1 of my sites. The other one I gave it about 10 backlinks.
2. Optimized the fuck out of my websites. Fixed H1 tags, worked on title tags, installed Yoast SEO and upgraded all of my sites from wordpress 3.3.1 to 3.5.1.
3. Redesigned an older site's layout that is now on the 4th page of google-- trying to push it up to 1st page, it used to be there but others have claimed it now
4. published one article. dripping articles at a rate of 1 every 2-3 days. will start working on updating the other sites, as i have put a ton of time into my first one.

all in all not a TON of work was done today but this is the boring part of SEO. did about 5-6 hours of work. tomorrow will be about the same i am betting, if not more. mostly articles being written tomorrow.

Spent about 5 fucking hours typing shit up. I lost about 2 hours worth of work because of not saving. So, after I lost it I gave up. I submitted articles to a few places (Bukisa, Helium, and a few others), along with submitting my site to a bunch of random social networks that were pretty easy to submit to. I also added my website to a bunch of blog directories, and I also spent some time looking at competitor's backlinks. Overall I did about 7 hours worth of work today, sadly 2 hours of it lost. Also I found a cool program that save whatever you copy and paste, maybe someone can use it: http://ditto-cp.sourceforge.net/

The thread where I found where to submit articles: http://www.wickedfire.com/traffic-content/88733-list-pages-like-hubpages-com-squidoo.html (Scroll down to see the real gems).

I wrote 5 really good long pages of copy one day and my host had a database error and lost it all.

Personally I think you're better off posting these articles on your main site(s) if you're typing up all these articles you're submitting. The bar is very low to get into these article directories and it isn't likely to be read by many eyes, don't give them your best stuff.

This may be of use to you. It's a categorized breakdown of all the properties listed by KnowEm (or that were at the time) I created for guerilla a couple of years ago. A good amount are probably dead, but less than what's in that thread you linked. I would stick to Profile/Blog/Pages tabs. Maybe check out the RSS as well. The rest can be automated on the cheap.

This might also help. It's a small guide I created to promote a link service I did for a little while that no longer exists.

Sorry for your loss. I have this habit for 15 years with computer - Ctrl+S every couple of minutes. After each paragraph. My fingers are doing this themselves, after Enter - just right Ctrl+S.

Saves you from many troubles and lost brain cells.

Barely anything today. Dripped one article onto a site and that was it. Completely pooped, was doing errands with family until 6pm, and was too tired/had no drive to do anything. Will be working a lot tomorrow (this sets me up for a good sleep schedule).
edit: Thanks a lot Staccs btw!! I will look them over tomorrow, seems like great resources and I appreciate it a lot. Thanks.

Productive day today. Today was strictly backlinks for 2 of my sites, and I'm now mentally preparing myself for the next one. I'm taking Staccs advice and after getting my articles rejected from 4 sites, I'm just going to stick them on mine and see how they work out. I did tons of backlinking, not sure if google will index them but, I am seeing some (like 5 visitors) for some long tails that I have snuck into my articles.
I started a new website with a friend, for another country. I was honestly shocked. To the multilingual people here: consider doing SEO in other countries. You may be shocked at what you find.
So today:
4 hours backlinking
3 hours article writing (writing NOT in your mother tongue is tough as nails, I wrote like 5 articles in another language with about 500 words each. fuck is it tough.)
1 hour for basic optimization of my other sites. Included a few articles with my keyword in them along with some useful information. If anyone wants info on how the articles are written or the content, I can post about it. But I am done for today. My Google Analytics seems to be showing an increase in visitors per day :). (only by like 4-5 though lol)

Did mostly website optimizations today. I followed a lot from this guide here: http://www.wickedfire.com/enlighten...rter-big-brand-checklist-how-i-represent.html

I also updated my sites (1 article on each), and am working more heavily on the website that's not in the US. My friend is taking care of the backlinking but basically what I did today was optimized all the sites, and then made guides (with pictures) on how to do content locking along with made FAQs on specific subjects. I also made sure to optimize every single article (this took a while). This leads me to a new question: if I stop updating my blog, will google no longer keep me on top of the rankings? One of my sites says no, but I'm not sure it will be this way.

So, total of 3-4 hours of work, spent mostly doing optimization and updating websites to make it more "user-friendly". Will probably spend the next 2-3 days just creating content and then backlinking, not sure yet.

Been subbed and reading your updates but I haven't heard anything on the monetization end. I realize that article creation and back links are important but you haven't talked about how you are squeezing the money out of the traffic you're getting (correct me if I am wrong, maybe I missed this in one of your earlier posts.

0 moniez that aren't from sites that are already established. I'm doing content locking.

Didn't too much today, was looking around for an IRL summer job. I spent about 3 hours writing about 5 articles (each 450-600 words, optimized for a longtail), and will drip them at the rate of every 1-2 days.

Learned a lot today. I'll go over in a post tomorrow, but today not much was done, I wrote a bunch more articles and got some backlinks. It's the grind I guess.

Anyway, spent about 4 hours writing articles, and 2 hours building backlinks. I learned today that SEO is hard. Hard as hell. I thought this was going to be quick cash. Boy, was I dead wrong.

Well, stop reading outdated info. I've been building websites for a looong time and i've seen dramatic changes as to what is possible with what amount of energy put in. Back in the days 400 word articles with a couple of spammy would cut it but no more. If i were you, i'd go to any freelancing site and code for cash, reinvest that cash into quality articles...a ton of them, 1000+ words each.

At the pace you are currently moving i would not expect significant $$ within the six months to next year.

Good luck though...

Sounds optimistic considering what you are doing but WTF do I know, you could be sitting on a gold mine.

Will be interesting to see how this pans out. Work hard bro, you seem to be having a lot of not so productive days. I know that you have a family and it's important that you dedicate time to them but you need to also dedicate time to work; time where you are fully focused and fully dedicated.

Article writing is long as fuck but you can still get a lot of other things done in a couple of hours if you are fully focused.

How are you going to monetize this stuff?

Hope things go well for you.

SEO is easy as shit bro, don't be a pussy!

I gave up as a kid because I thought SEO was hard, I was 50% of the way there already and assumed it must be "too hard" and take too long to do what I need to do, when in reality half of the work was already done.

Bottom line is; don't be a lil pussy, do it bro; shits easy in comparison to most things in life lol.

I've decided that I'm going to keep working, even though I'm seeing little to no return day in and day out. I've given up on the goals that I had (shit was unrealistic and impossible), and I'll be doing this much more for a long term goal. Something to put cash into my pocket in college. (And to help pay down what loans I have).

So, after a week-two weeks of doing this I got super depressed from seeing no cash, and very little movement in the SERPS. So I gave up. Then I started thinking back, to that exact same fire that I had before. Then I reasoned with myself. There's no reason that I need to reach some stupidly absurd goal. My goal is now to simply get extra spending cash, so that's all I'm going to do. Sorry if I let anyone down, I also felt guilty about that, and I owe, at the very least, a summer long commitment to this.

And I couldn't get a minimum wage job, after interviewing at 3 places and sending over 50 applications, almost all of them in person. Oh well. So, instead of strictly SEO I've set up a small system, which should help me longer. Instead of 8-10 hour days, I'll be working less (4-6), and it will be every other day. The days I'm not doing SEO I'll be writing code, (my major is CS), so I want to be able to have a good portfolio to show to possible employers for internships next summer.

TL;DR
I should stop being a bitch, readjust my goals, make them more reasonable, and think about the long term, not the short term. The main thing now, how do I keep myself motivated? I don't know, hopefully I will find something to help me stay motivated to do it every day.

This is something everybody struggles with. I still struggle with it when things aren't going my way. The way to fix this is a simple change in mindset. Instead of defining your success by the amount of money you're earning, define it by the steps you are taking.

Did you build backlinks and write articles today? If yes, then it was a successful day. You accomplished exactly what you need to do to give your site a chance to rank higher. If no, then you're not giving yourself a chance to succeed.

If you follow the process to creating a good website, getting traffic, and monetizing traffic, the money will come. You can't just choose when the money comes, but you can choose to follow the steps that attract the money. Focus on those steps, not the money, and trust that it will come when the time is right.

I will keep that in mind, I appreciate the advice.
