Hi,

There was a thread ages ago on here (I think!) about what magazines you read, and there was one I was going to get, but forgot its name (and only just got around to trying to find that thread). I can't find the thread - so either- does anyone know what the thread is, or does anyone have any suggestions?

i've searched (both site search and google) but can't turn up much apart from loads of article writing services and other random threads

(I mean business related mags :P)

thanks

Hi, ( OK )

(I understand what you mean)

(That magazine is a business one!)

(Great description) thanks

Inc. and Entrepreneur. There's some coupon codes floating around for one year subscriptions for $5.

Btw, you suck at sentences.

I stopped reading Entrepreur when they redesigned their layout a couple years ago. I hate the way it is set up now... for some reason it is much less enjoyable to me.

INC is good. Business Week. Money. But I don't read magazines much unless I'm traveling... in which case I'll hit up the book store and grab a few.

PLEASE NOTE: go to a book store with a KICK ASS magazine section to find niche ideas for websites. If a print publication can make enough advertising revenue to support itself and profit than you can definitely do the same without all that overhead.

I do this except to find out what the major advertisers are doing, a few weeks ago I swiped a good headline for a debt consolidation offer and my CTR shot up from 2.2 to 3.7.

Some tattoo magazine, a poker magazine, and ... runner's world (I don't run, I just like looking at their headlines for copywriting ideas)

Mustangs and Fast Fords
5.0
Mustang Works
Mustang Enthusiast
Engine Builder
(sometimes i pick up a tuner mag)
Guns and Ammo
Maxim
Forbes (for the pimp watches)

Inc.
Advertising Age
Economist
La Cucina Italiana (essentially this is Italian Food porn)

Also subscribe to the Financial Times and WSJ.

Used to subscribe to Outside Magazine - but it was the same cover every month. Lance, Kelly Slater or Laird Hamilton in constant rotation. Please- get over your boy crushes Outside Mag.

Word of advice - NEVER NEVER subscribe to Investor's Business Daily. Their paper is actually pretty decent, but if/when you cancel they will hound you like a dog to get you to sign back up- worse than any collection agency. And they will sell your info to tons of 3rd parties.

I honestly tend to find Business Mags boring. The only time I kinda get interested is when the Forbes Rich List and its Australian equivalent gets published. Always curious to see what power structures run what continents. Seeing what global industries are healthy in which countries and whether or not, you could spot an early business trend that is heading to your region/country.

Just had a look at the coffee table and the ones I have actually forked out money for lately are.

Monocle
Wired
The Monthly (aussie progressive, arts)
Quarterly Essay ( collection of australian politcal thought)

Tend to spend the cash on mostly on books this days, that I have run out of time to read.

I'm quite discriminating in my choice of reading material.

Fast Company - great for discovering new niches and verticals.

Foreign Policy - not interested in the politics as much as where the money is going.
