People don't believe in a lot of things because they took Physics 101 in college and think they're fucking scientists. People mock the concept of perpetual energy because they say it breaks newtons first law of thermodynamics. If they have LEDs that can take in radiant energy from the atmosphere to achieve an electrical efficiency over 100%, why can't these proposed machines do the same thing? Regarding the first law, even if one could extract energy from the quantum vacuum (which most but not all scientists remain skeptical) it has been shown that such a process would not violate the laws of thermodynamics. Also, there are now scientific challenges to the absolute status of the second law of thermodynamics. Check out the work of physicist D.P. Sheehan at USD. His discoveries would would not make the second law "wrong" as much as just make it not universal. Magnetism and magnetic energy is a relatively unexplored field.
