Making a site for my Judo/MMA team

Hey Guys!

I'd like to ask you for your help.

I've been training MMA for a couple weeks and our team still does not have a website. I spoke to my instructor today and he told me that it would be cool to have a website for the team, no matter how basic it is.

I told him, that I'll try to make one. I have very minimal technical skills, but I started a two year long web programming course two weeks ago:D

The site should have the following:

-Some basic intro page
-Photo Galery
-News
-Forum (optional)
-Chat (optional)
-A page describing the martial arts
-A page describing the instructors
-Contact page


What do you guys suggest, how should I make the site? I thought about wordpress. Selecting a theme and editing it a little bit. Which would be a good theme for this project?

I have one week to make it.

site probs doesnt need a chat, you can do it with joomla, but you might need to pay a designer for custom/modified theme
 
wordpress would be easy, just install it and get a nice theme --> themeforest.net have some alright ones except they all have fucking image sliders lol
 
U still looking for info?? Depends on your knowledge but i would go with wordpress and post back here when u get stuck! I take it you wanna do this urself?? PM me if u need some cheap space on my server nd help setting up etc..
 
Thanks for the help, I'll make the site tomorrow. I would not like to pay anybody to make it.
I want to do it. I'll go with a wordpress theme and if I get stuck I'll ask my questions here.
