One of my good friends is going through some shitty stuff. Called me up yesterday all down in the dumps. Not sure why, but the first thing that came to mind was to go fishing. I mean really, what is more satisfying than pulling in a big old catfish just to get your mind off of things?

I live off the Delaware River about 45 minutes north off Philly. Strippers are still running, and it is a full moon. So, fish are on bite.

Check it out:

*This Eel felt like a log on the end on the line. Man they fight good. Still snap the hook when I get them though. One of the bigger ones I have ever caught though.

*Small Bullhead. Still fought well.

I also caught 3 Strippers, but nothing to write home about.

Who loves fishing?

If fishing could catch me strippers, I'd be fishing all day.

I love fishing, too. I just took my nephew out fishing this morning. Caught a couple smallmouth bass and a lot of pumpkin seed. He had a nice bite from a bigger bass but didn't set the hook (still learning).

If I can generate some money with my ecommerce site, I hope to take some of the profits and get a boat for next season.

I went halibut fishing a month ago, and keep a fishing pole in the car in case I have the urge when I'm on the road. Here in WA state there are tons of rivers full of steelhead, salmon, trout, etc. In eastern WA we catch a shit ton of walleye which is probably my favorite fresh water fish.

And I forgot how much I enjoy fishing. I'm going to call and book a salmon trip tomorrow just so I have it scheduled cause it's definitely worth the money. Might do tuna in the fall.

Yea man, freshwater fishing is the best. I just went last week with my dad for Father's day. Plan on taking the canoe out a couple times this summer to the lake to maybe try and get some bigger stuff than from off the shore (small pickerel and catfish).

Are you required to wear your fishing license like that in PA?

You are required to have one here in MN, but it can be inside your pocket, wallet, tackle box, etc...

In Pa it has to be "displayed".

The Commission believes that open display of fishing licenses is more convenient for anglers, makes enforcement more effective and less intrusive, and encourages compliance with fishing license requirements.

I either hang it on my hat or shorts.

I caught the biggest catfish of my life while striper fishing not far from the Salem nuke plant on the Delaware, almost 15lbs. Got pretty fucked up too. Got back to where my car was parked (in south Philly) where I met up with my fishing buddies and found it had been towed. Had to go somewhere in North Philly to get it (boat in tow) to the wrecker lot to buy the car back for a $130 bucks. I was so pissed, I took the bait bucket and dumped it in the back of the wrecker when we left. I bet that smelled good the next day.

I don't get striped bass. They're all over the place on Eastern LI (Montauk, Orient, Shinnecock, Moriches, etc.) in May & October (basically finicky in between those major times - weird everything meant an off spring fishingwise, around here) - yet can be 45 miles north of Philly in the Delaware in late June.

Go up to this nice cabin in Kennerdell PA every summer and a few years ago my wife n' I were fishing off a big rock across the river on the property, used a canoe to get to the other side.. then these queers roll up in an official state boat.. Give us a nice $300+ fine for no licenses, but see they were really nice guys, because they could have tacked on several hundred more for other violations like not having life vests in the canoe, and having certain types of fish in a bucket that we were planning on showing my young niece and letting go.

So you broke the law and got mad and caused criminal damagae to the property of the one that enforced it? It wouldnt have been to hard to pin it on the guy with the boat from the day b4. But i guess you got lucky all the way around

Yeah, I've had my share of run ins with the PA park rangers. Your story is pretty typical.
