Marijuana legal in California

The entire fiasco would have probably gone on with even more hassles if the stress of it all didn't aggregate my condition enough to rupture my colon and send me to the hospital for 3 weeks.

Not sure if serious.

It's pretty much tolerated here in Ireland concerning small amounts. I had a garda (police here, no guns) Give me back my quarter when she pulled me over one night smoking a joint. I had 14 grams in two bags in the car so when she asked me for it I just gave her one bag, she looked at it and talked to me for a while then just gave it back and said smoke it at home. She probably just didn't want to do the paperwork because it was raining. On multiple occasions though they have let me off and I even smoked a joint with an on duty garda at a festival once.

It sounds like the problem is more with douche bag cops and not feds or court. I seriously think cops need to go though some real psych evaluation at least once year. I have never met a cop who was mentally sound.
while i agree that most cops are just pissed off schoolboy bullies looking to get their jollies harassing the innocent*, the problem is just as much the courts. my lawyer explained to me that North SD County -- specifically -- has decided to still pursue these cases. if i had been downtown, then my case would already have been thrown out. but i'm in a state where the people voted that i should legally be in the right -- why the fuck does my local court house have the right to drag me through the mud like this, basically at their own whim?

* i got pulled over last week for having "a broken tail light" -- now, my tail light is fine and fully illuminated, but one of the two bulbs in the enclosure is burned out. my lawyer assures me this is not "a broken tail light" -- and literally, in under 3 sentences, the encounter was finished. the cop came up to my window, asked for license/reg, told me my tail light was out, went back to his car for 20m and then said "you're free to go."
this sounds like an ideal police encounter, but as soon as he drove off, i was left sitting there wondering -- if he wasn't going to ticket me for the tail light, why the FUCK did he pull me over in the first place? yep, just to hassle me, see if i was causing trouble, and call in my DL# to see if i had any warrants. i can't believe my taxes are paying for that asshole to harrass me like that.

I've been telling my friends out here not to just assume this is going to pass. There's a lot more "red" in CA than people realize.

That said, this is going to be an interesting summer/fall out here. This is ALL we're going to hear about and will be the topic of a fair percentage of all conversations. That and the election for Governor should be a good one too.

CA is at a crisis point. Even the hordes of liberals are realizing that the state can't afford all of the social programs anymore. Something has to give.

Because sadly until federal law changes any court house that wants to just uses that as an excuse.

Edit : And it's certainly not there "right" it's just what they like to do and no one with the ability to stop or punish them does.

i live in cali now, but this just happened this weekend in my hometown:

such a fucking waste of taxpayer's money on bullshit ... no victim no crime

if you are going to be driving around with weed and you live in California, you might as well get a medical card. it's only $160 bucks and requires NO medical records.. you literally just walk in there and get your card

For any drugs, you're pretty much fine if youre in NorCal.
In SoCal, well fuck, I just wish those faggy cops would just stay at the station and respond to calls. There are literally cops on every street/block now, so getting caught is pretty easy. I probably see 50 cops per day

The police department makes too much money writing chicken shit tickets to give it up.

Course even if they do legalize pot, I wonder how many folks will be amazed to learn they can still get arrested for driving under the influence. :P

Why would people think they can drive high? You can't drive drunk and alcohol is legal to drink.

Marijuana and alcohol are not the same.

I drive high everyday.

Marijuana doesn't affect driving performance. If anything I drive safer when I'm high than sober.

I drove stoned all the time in my 20's. I would actually drive better than normal, since I was kind of paranoid about getting pulled over...so I'd go the speed limit, not accelerate through yellow lights, etc. Never had any problems. However when sober, I usually speed and drive aggressively.

The problem is that it is counter-intuitive. People are used to thinking that intoxicated = impaired driving, so the masses think "oh noes, weed = impaired driving".

The facts are different. To quote from one of the biggest studies on this issue:

"Drivers under the influence of marijuana retain insight in their performance and will compensate where they can, for example, by slowing down or increasing effort. As a consequence, THC's adverse effects on driving performance appear relatively small."

You guys must be high.

If you're stoned, your reaction time goes down so all else being equal it's more dangerous than driving sober. You're also much more likely to zone out for a few seconds here and there, which will impair your ability to avoid the drunk driver about to hit you head on, the dumb bitch on her cell phone who pulls out in front of you, etc.

And as you know, if you're even moderately high your perception of time can really get distorted. Don't tell me you've never sat through an entire green light while laughing your ass off with your stoner buddy about something stupid. It's nothing like driving drunk, but it ain't as safe as driving sober.

With that being said I drove stoned just about every day for almost 10 years and never had a problem lol

Now driving around after dropping acid or eating some shrooms, well, that's a whole different story. God I'm lucky to be alive ...

Yea, I remember seeing this one fool who was fried out of his mind, all googly-eyed and shit sitting at a stoplight right next to me. I mean, he looked so fucked up I couldn't look away.

With that said, I drop my acid/shrooms at home/festivals - No driving. :)
