Market Samurai Worthless now?

Now this is just fucked up. I bought it recently for the sole purpose of using it for SEO competition research. They want to import Bing stats to the program. Is this worthless or something valuable we should wait for?

If it were a yearly renewal price, then I could see your point (pointed at the refunders). It's a one-time fee and you get all future updates for free. Worst case, you come back to it in a couple months after they work stuff out and get back to business. It's better than having to buy it again and chance they up the price while you were gone.

It's still effective for what you want. That's a different module than the keyword research that the others are talking about. The SEO Competition data is still coming from Google as it's just analyzing the first page results.

It's still got more research information than any other program available at that price. So it's not worthless.

I'm not thrilled about Bing data either, but for SEO Title Competition Research, it's nearly the same as Google's since all it's doing is comparing keywords in the titles of all sites to those found in the body of the page. Yeah, they might not index all that Google has in the same ranking order, but it will be just slightly off when you're dealing with xx,xxx - xxx, xxx, xxx of results depending on the niche. A few thousand less results won't weigh in that heavily towards the percentage.

I'm fairly certain I heard somewhere that they're considering incorporating SEOmoz data. If that's true, then that'd be really neat to see some stats in SEO Competition or Keyword Research in a different metric in addition to what's currently there. Again, I'm not completely certain on that, but they'll have to be doing something different to get the frustrated customers back to trying it out after the changes.

I get my keywords using ScrapeBox. Start with everything I know of that I want to go after, hit the WonderWheel scraper for a level, then drop that into the regular ScrapeBox keyword scraper.

I do the same thing with scrapebox, it generates endless amounts of keywords so fast. But's also nice to feed those keywords into MS and filter out keywords with low volume, especially if your doing adwords..

Market Samuri is not going to help you make much more money and is very slow... Nichefinder is basically worthless. Real research and analysis and maybe scrapbox is prob the best route.. Keyword specialists.. Aren't we all by now?

shit is so slow, I try to steer clear whenever I can for small kw research jobs

I unchecked "Use built-in proxy servers" and use only my own private proxy lists or VPN's and I find it's now much faster. Plus all the SEO* fields are now filled, with no "missing cells" msg's, which I was getting before.

google keyword tool is the best for keywords i think, because market samurai is based on this tool.
To analyze websites and to find keywords, u can use travis trafic also, it is free, much much faster than MS, u can analyze websites, backlinks, ip's etc...

Turns out my Market Samurai problem is something different. I think people can still do mass keyword research the way I want to, I just have extremely tight security settings on that box due to ScrapeBox. Will try it on another machine.

I gotta say, MS's support has been pretty responsive with my unrelated crap given all the other problems they're having. If I can get my stuff working, I'm not refunding. They'll get it fixed and seem very dedicated.

Does anyone know if Micro Niche Finder provides the same kind of data?

Not exactly the same, Micro Niche Finder like Traffic Travis is very weak for competition data.
MS was great for competition data and this feature alone is worth its price.
The algo changes and new API's policies by G have changed the game but I hope they'll find the way to fix everything.

I gotta admit that i've been using marketing samurai since it's launch by Ed Dale during his "30 days challenge" and it's been a formidable weapon for both my job as Seo for clients and for myself.

This sudden "Nerfing" is a terrible hit for me, i will be much slower in both activities and i hope they will fix it.

I'm wondering if there's a way to get at least a partial workaround for us, using the google spreadsheet and the scraping functions... (like they did at distilled.co.uk). I'll let you know if i can guess a way.

i've liked wordstream lately for keyword stuff. their tools seem to be getting better.

I used to love MS but I've lost confidence in it. For example I saw massive changes in the competition data and thought I'd finally lost it, but then I read this:

>Update – Market Samurai Backlink Data Changes

On February 24th Market Samurai announced a major update to their software that effects mostly the SEO Competition and Rank Tracker modules.
The update basically means that Market Samurai has stopped using Yahoo Site Explorer to gather all backlink data including BLP, BLD and BLEG and they are now using Majestic SEO.
This update means that the backlink numbers showing in Market Samurai now are more accurate than before.

Because of this change the keyword anchor text data analysis is fucked: sometimes you get the full list, sometimes you only get a couple of results.

You can get big differences if you compare the ranking data with the SEO Competition data. For example, MS showed one of my keywords ranking in at number 2 but the site isn't even in the top 10 in the SEO Competition screen for the same keyword.

Big big pity.
:(

It used to be good. Now it is pretty shit. They keyword research part hasn't worked for me in a long time (it looks like it maybe started working again today), it's slow as balls and has trouble loading up old saves. You can no longer get backlink data for sites without subscribing to majestic seo it appears.

Really sucks since I did quite like it a while back but I may soon be looking for a replacement or programming something for my own use.

Those of you who are thinking of buying it now I'd definitely stay away and those who just bought it and could get a refund I'd try to do that.
