I don't know about you but I sure report that income. Neverblue's wires come to me from their bank of america account in the US, so it's not going to somehow go unnoticed in large numbers, especially in an audit. As bofu stated it's tax fraud in it's most basic definition.

Seriously, setup a corp in your state of choice that IS NOT subject to this bullshit, get a virtual address(regus, davinci virtual), phone number, fax, etc in that state and have everything forwarded to your home(s) address.

If they ever find out, that's tax fraud. I wouldn't worry about it though because it's the merchant that has to start charging sales tax, it's not out of your pocket per-se.

They talked about the Colorado affiliate tax on NPR today. After listening to the excerpt, I was wondering what all the fuss was about. It doesn't seem to have much an affect on the affiliates as much as Amazon. It sounded like Amazon fired all the affiliates because they were having a tizzy fit.

Granted, I have a pretty limited understanding of the situation in Colorado, but it sounds to me like the burden is on the companies selling though the state, not the affiliates. If that is the case, it wont be long before Amazon starts accepting Colorado affiliates again.

It sounds like that is the situation in Maryland. The burden will be on the companies, not really the affiliates. And any company that pulls out Maryland will do it as a protest.

It's not only that, but look at the tradeoff. Having to charge sales tax because the affiliate is in Maryland, to a consumer in Florida ordering from a company in Texas... The sales tax shouldn't go to the Maryland state government. That's retarded. I'm not a salesman, I'm an advertiser. I do NOT represent "presence" in the state.

Now let's take into account that the state has multiple tax places and %'s.
