MATT CUTTS = TROLL LEVEL GRADE A

If WordAI can figure out how to spin content that's so ridiculously good (not trolling WordAI, they are great at what they do), why would you assume Google, with their billions of dollars, and 14 years of doing would not be able to figure out reading level, and quality of the content?

Sure, they can tell the difference between crap spun content and quality reading level. However...

14 years and billions of dollars means they're good at making money, not good at picking out and rankin the 'best' content for a search query.

Look at their search results. Amazon dominates product related searches when there's far better content out their. Google ranks shitty 2 minute YouTube videos at the top of page one when there's a ton of better and more deserving content out their. Thin spammy pages out rank far better content.

If they could identify the best quality pages of content their search results would be far better. They can't, that's why big brands dominate and they don't rank the absolute best page for each each search query.

A big brand page with image, add to cart button and a paragraph product description will out rank the highest quality 1,000+ word page of content all day.

What are you defining as "best"? Wouldn't they know that a big brand with an image and an add to cart converted like crazy (monitored through Google Analytics) cause the visitor got what they were immediately looking for? And that 1000+ word page of content didn't convert users to buying, cause they didn't simply put a big images.

If the end goal of Google is to increase the user experience, would a converted user be mission accomplished then wasting 5 minutes reading 1000+ about a product. If it is a big brand, wouldn't it already be the big brand's product? And if you are referring to Amazon, doesn't that site sell like crazy? Don't customers get what they want, and a fast checkout process? Wouldn't that be the best option?

As far as Google is concerned, I wrote extensively about their growing control over the internet, http://www.wickedfire.com/traffic-content/165812-google-index-speed-impresses-me.html#post1886712, They might not be there yet, but they are surely attempting it.

I was hinting that it was aimed at people that have Google as the primary traffic source. See, if you increase the sources of traffic going to your site from other avenues, video, social media (LOL), news, press releases, partner companies, guest posting in your niche, etc, you will spread out your reliance.

Doing all of this will show Google that you are in a multitude of places and are therefore an authority. The shear volume of links and traffic your getting will then increase. The problem is you are only focused on one source. So you have to indirectly get that traffic by getting other sources of traffic. Google takes notice, then send you more traffic.

It's like looking at boiling water, if you step back and concentrate on other tasks, the water seems to boil faster. You'll get to a point, where you don't need to rely on Google, and ironically, Google will send you more traffic (since you're building backlinks, create a brand, etc.)

Carry on...

not saying that it's not a good idea to diversify traffic sources, but your statement about having other traffic sources has anything to do with authority/rankings is plain bullshit - or please prove me wrong, because I have plenty of sites with >95% organic google traffic that didn't get hit.

What part of the statement is bullshit? Getting links from authority sites doesn't effect your rankings? Getting links from a diversity of sources, doesn't effect your rankings? What exactly would you like me to prove?
