Matt Damon: I actually have more respect for him than I have for most actors, at least he actually wrote a decent screenplay; "Good Will Hunting".

Matt and his buttboy Ben wrote that screenplay - or at least its first version. Hollywood tapped Bill Goldman to rework the fuck out of it and then solely credit Damon and Affleck as part of the Oscar publicity/star vehicle push.

Just compare the screenwriting credits to those two and Goldman. Allegedly the original (and I know this is going to shock people) screenplay had conspiratorial elements where a government agency sought to shut down Good Will's genius. That angle was only hinted at in the final.
