I hope McCain loses so the GOP gets it through its collectively thick skull that this neocon bullshit is not what the majority of the country wants.

The two choices are the advancement of radical socialist agendas or the continuation of radical neoconservative agendas. What the fuck.

I'm voting Libertarian, it's the last hope for our country the way I see it. No, the Libertarian Party isn't going to see any of their candidates elected president in the next 30+ years, if ever. But that doesn't matter. What it can do is muster a good 10% of the vote and cripple the GOP until they start paying more than lip service to the classical liberal roots of their party.

Let's see.....being the grandchild of two POW's, one of which lost his leg to the war, I have the up most respect of John McCain. He is a Hero. He may be older, but his wisdom coupled with his experience, brings me to believe he is right person to elect as our President. His speech was right on target and he brings hope to this America that is longing for a bright future. Way to go John McCain and Sarah Palin! We will see you as our leaders in 2009!

If McCain loses, the GOP will take it as a sign that it needs to move more toward the left, which it will, and we will effectively witness the end of any type of fiscal conservative ideals that once existed... although we haven't seen it for two decades, at least.

Spending will grow, the deficit will grow, and my kids will be owned by China. Maybe sometime in this century, little Chinese kids will be playing with dolls that say "Made In America".

1. ( as has been mentioned) One of the "protesters" was a veteran of the Iraq war. A person McCain, who hates America and veterans, would rather pretend doesn't exist.

2. Cindy mcCain is a known drug addict who stole from her own non-profit to support her drug habbit. As a libertarian, I dont care about her pill problem, but the hypocrisy is McCain is a staunch Drug Warrior who wants to imprison dying cancer patients for using marijuana ( even in states with legal medical marijuana- McCain is a big government socialist who opposes federalism, among other things).

She also claims to be an "only child" which is apparently offensive to her less well-off half-siblings. I only bring this up because "the right" has tried to make a fuss over Obama' lack of relationship with his Kenyan half brothers. Between this and mcCain's philandering, no one wins the "family values" in this race.

3. McCain considers himself a "Teddy Roosevelt Republican" which should be enough to make anyone vommit. Another label is "National Greatness Conservative." Which roughly translates to "national socialist." Anyone who hates Dems for big government and socialist cannot seriously support McCain. McCain's only difference with a socialist Democrat is the degree of spending and occupation and shifting them to different areas.

4. McCain was a POW and went through a lot of shit, obviously. He should be thanked for his service. He ranks a hell of a lot higher than GWB and the cabal of neoconservative chickenhawks. However, this is no more reason to make him president than being mayor while his city was attacked, having "9/11" on a loop, lisping and spitting when he speaks is a reason for wanting Rudy Giuliani.

5. McCain is ignorant on economics. He has admited as such and said that Phil Gramm speaks for him. When Phil Gramm actually does speak for him, well that doesnt work so well. His response to "free trade" is " I don't want to trade burkas"

6. McCain prides himself on his bi-partisan legislation, which is is always a BAD sign. Being bi-partisan means working together to get the worst of both worlds passed. We don't really need ANY new laws. About the worst thing government does is when they feel they need to be "doing something." Gridlock is probably the most desired outcome. When a Republican is willing to work with Democrats on anti-speech legislation and just about everything else that comes along. McCain Feingold anti-free political speech is essentially an Incumbent Protection Act.

7. McCain has some GOOD points, but he has pretty much worked to distance himself from them. I understand this is politics. But in other cases not so much. He was initially correct on the foreclosure and mortgage bailout issues and a few things like that before he flipped to the socialist side. He once called the Religious Right "agents of intolerance"- now he goes along with their bigotry.

8. McCain can take shots at Obama for his lack of private sector experience, yet McCain has essentially lived off taxpayers for over 50 years. He is a permanent government employee. I understand some people ( a certain brand of socialists) have a military fetish, but the fact is he has never had to have a job or compete in the private sector in his life. Third generation Naval Academy who followed Jack in the Washington DC political insider bullshit. Then he used his POW story and connections to get a 25 year gig in the US Senate.

At first you might look at Cindy McCain and think, well she's rich and though she didnt do anything to earn it ( I have no problem with inheritance and oppose estate taxes) someone in her family was probably a good businessman. True to an extent. Except that her family basically made money from a government protected monopoloy with exclusive distribution rights to a powerful drug. Beer distributorships are a function of government connections and political favors. The business model depends on regulation as well as the prohibition of less harmful drugs.

Yet the McCains can call the Obamas, a lower class couple that worked their way through law school, elitists?

This is a guy who made a living off political and military connections paved by his grandparents and parents. He spent a lot of his childhood in DC where his dad had a political military appointment, and his mother threw cocktail parties for Congressmen. A poor student, he got into the Naval Academy as a legacy and somehow did not get kicked out. He cheated on his wife with an heiress. Then married the heiress and lives a lifestyle of great wealth ( as a REAL capitalist I LOVE wealth, so that's not a criticism).

I am NOT voting for Obama. But the problem is just about any criticism of the "Obama narrative" applies just as much or more to John Sidney McCain, and on the areas of the size of government, economics, civil liberties- McCain is hardly better and sometimes worse. I would say it's almost a wash.

I probably won't vote at all or I might vote for Bob Barr. I would say the 2 major candidates are both worthless, but keep things in perspective.

There is nothing so positive about McCain or Obama imho, that the other winning will make much of a difference. But I think there might be a few more positives by default with Obama- those are the positives that come along with halting the era of the neoconservative and stalling the momentum of any "national greatness teddy roosevelt conservative" bullshit. That shit is far worse and more evil than soft Democratic socialism from a conservative/constitutionalist perspective.

I cannot see Obama winning. He is too far to the left and that only works in a few areas on each coast. Congress is full of far left wing politicians. They have a lower rating than George Bush.

Sure Obama has been trying to move to the center. Hell in the last two days he admitted the surge was a success beyond his wildest dreams and stated today that he would consider drilling in Alaska. Both of these statements are totally opposite of what he was saying a few months/weeks/days ago.

He is trying to move to the center to get the average American vote but it may be too late. To many convited terrorist, racist black panthers and corupt business people in his closet.

The democrats should have nominated Hillary or someone more to the center of the party. A Bill Clinton number 2 would have probably taken this election easily. The average Amercian is neither a far left loon nor a far right one either.

The conventions are by private invitation. Fools, hippies, general trouble makers are not allowed. This goes for the Democrats as well. If someone would have stood up in the DNC and started yelling "Barack why are you friends with a terrorist and your spiritual leader is a black panther" he would have been dragged out as well.

He was a Republican and the RNC had goons there ( as well as the "black hats") who singled out REPUBLICAN delegates who had legitimately been seated as delegates for candidates other than McCain. McCain did not win 100% of delegate and they had a right to be there. There were even more delegates who were kept out by corrupt state parties.

It was supposed to be a Republican convention, not a private coronation.

The Democrats did not ban Hillary Clinton supporters or ban Dennis Kucinich from their convention. I doubt that they had Secret Service confiscate the property of all Hillary Clinton supporters to make sure they wouldnt display any pro-Clinton material. I doubt Obama had a squad that went around and handed out signs and instructed people to use them to block Hillary supporters or had black hat goon squads that threatened to kickout Hillary delegates.

And I fucking HATE Hillary Clinton, but it seems her supporters have more balls than 90% of Republicans who couldnt stand McCain a year ago but now think he's King. On a related note, there is a reason a huge % of Clinton supporters say they will vote mcCain- He is a tolerable choice for centrist Democrats, since he pretty much is one himself.

The Republicans had Rudy 911 there, who did not win a single delegate and all the other losers except the only opponent with actual beliefs.

Because it's all about rah rah USA USA Groupthink allegience to the most squishy anti-republic Republican we could find and lets ignore all the real issues that Republicans are supposed to care about.

Personally I really wish he would have selected Lieberman as his running mate. Then we would have had a chance to see if a large block of Republicans had ANY principles at all or if the Republican brand is just now reduce to War Party- All War all the Time, Big Government Socialist Empire.

Same can be said of McCain ( except the black panther part) but there is a the racial identity double standard there. McCain has plenty of scandals, associations with criminals, and personal moral failings. But he's an old white guy with an heiress Stepford Wife. Teflon there.

As far as Obama moving to the center , you are RIGHT. And that is exactly why he might lose. Obama moving to the center doesn't win for him, unless people are really sick of the Republican brand. Because McCain is pretty much "in the center."

His # 1 issue was being against the Iraq War, which is not only a correct view but highly popular. The less that is an issue the less support he will receive from independents and moderates who respect McCain but can't support empire. The more Obama wants to use military on his own pet adventurism and the more he supports the surge ( and the less urgent the Iraq situation is) he loses any edge there.

If it comes down to a pure economics fight, Obama loses people there. Obviously. If you have 2 socialists and 1 has an R next to his name and age/experience, military- his socialism is more palatable to people that actually vote ( old people, middle america).

Just as you think Obama can't win, a lot of people think there is no way he can lose. And that it will be a landslide. I'm sure some thought the same of Kerry.

A couple things you can never overestimate- the stupidity of voters, and the hubris of Democrats.

Here's a question for you republicans: if both candidates suck to some extend - do you really want to pick the one that runs his campaign on lies about the other party?

I think most republicans have their head in the economy sand and fail to look at the big picture. Do you really want another government that lies to you on default?

No doubt there is always some truth stretching going on in politics, but McCain really made a sport out of it...

I would vote for a Bill Clinton like candidate over McCain. I just can't step into the Pelosi, Reid, Obama side. They are too far left for me and I would rather vote for ANYONE rather than an extreme far left ticket. This is the US not San Fransico.

I normally wouldn't support Obama as he would cost me a gigantic amount of money BUT:

McCain could've been the next Reagan but than this neocon bullshit got him. He turned 180° on HIS OWN immigration bill. Palin is against Roe v Wade for fuckings sake!

95% of the time McCain voted with Bush.

The worst thing is he lost his last dignity lying openly. How can you vote for a man who stands there and lies?

How big a moron must one be to believe that McCain would really cut spending? Reagan didn't, Bush didn't and McCain won't.

And the argument that lower taxes equal more economic growth is TOO simple. Big companies and people who make a lot of money rely most on the government to provide security, infrastructure.

Tax cuts work but only to a degree and are A LOT more effective for lower income businesses and families than they're for big companies.

I certainly wouldn't stop working as hard just because I'd have to pay $250.000 instead of $200.000. A tax cut from $200.000 to $150.000 would be nice but do I nead this 50k? Not really.

Does a lower class family losing their home need the 2k they would get? I think so.

So think about this, think about karma and think if you really need the tax cuts.

Didn't see it myself, but you're right, they should have stopped the RNC and given this guy the stage for at least 20 minutes. Because protests really belong inside the convention rather than outside with a picket sign.

... democrats
Funny, the protester you're referring to, Adam Kokesh (the guy with the banner at McCain's speech), is a libertarian, not a democrat.

You don't need a quarter of your income?!?!? Salute!

I'd rather lose a quarter of my income then a quarter of the worlds sanity. The latter will result in the same thing eventually anyway (just look at the results the current administration brought you).

Do you have any solid reason to believe that McCain will do things differently then Bush? If not aren't you voting for more insanity?
