I. Fucking. Hate. Media.Net

I'm even going to tell you why.

They first contacted me out of the blue (first warning sign) about advertising on a big site of mine (100k+ impressions/day), I figured I'd give them some impressions to try it and see how it goes.

It was performing pretty shit so I complained saying I'd scrap the test unless they could improve the CPMs, then my account manager sends me an e-mail asking for a list of my most searched keywords so that they can improve the ad targeting. I send a list of 10 KWs (as it was no big secret where my traffic was coming from - at least not the top 10-20 search phrases).

Then he tells me that because of the content of my site he has to pull the advertising all together.

WTF. You contact me and then say the content isn't in the guidelines?

Since then they have contacted me on 12 separate occasions asking to advertise on similar sites. That's right, I've already got an account there - yet they continue to send me e-mails asking me to sign up other sites of mine. One time three separate people contacted me about the same site. These are all sites which I should add break their quality guidelines.

I've told them to fuck off numerous times, but it doesn't seem to be working. So this is my fuck you to media.net.

My Charity Pledge

If you're currently using media.net and give them the ditch, I will donate either: $25 to kiva.org OR $50 to a registered Australian charity of your choosing (tax purposes is the reason for the differential). Just post something verifying that you were using them and are no longer.

If this post ranks first page for media.net I'll donate another $100 to kiva.org, top3 and we'll make it $500.

For every email media.net continues to send me, I'll donate another $100 to an Australian charity.

I'm tapping this out at $2,000 in donations.

i have them on a site that i dont want to get in contact with my adsense account. will drop em. was going to drop em anyway though. made less than 2 bucks on a couple thousand impressions (over a couple months). your call whether this qualifies.

sometimes they send emails claiming they want to install a customized ad solution on my great site.

It qualifies, you want kiva.org or an aus charity?

Fuck you x 1 to media.net

I'm dropping them because they over promised and under delivered. I'll rather just go back using AdSense. I guess as far as charities go I'll choose Breast Cancer Foundation of WA because we have to save the boobies...

You know what, since I like you so much I'm going to donate $25 to the Ron Paul campaign. Just let me know where and when to send it.

Alright.

I am ditching them, too.

Camp Quality please. (They have a 50$ minimum, so lump my 25 in with the others).

Post a screenshot and I will match 25 to a charity here in Switzerland (think global, act local).

Done, will post all screenshots this afternoon. Also camp quality has an aus branch so the total for them is actually at $100 now.

Fuck you x 5 to media.net

I was recommended by another member to join media.net so I did. It apparently working well for him but for me it totally sucked. 0.10 CPM? are you fucking kidding me? I dropped it the very next day then my rep stated calling me to try again. Glad, I didnt bother to try again.

It seems shit anyways. Please donate to the aussie camp quality charity (thanks ten)

LOL, Thanks! The Paul campaign certainly needs every bit of help it can get.

Since they do periodic Moneybombs, it would be by far most useful applied to their next moneybomb, which you can pledge today for here: Rise for Liberty, May 17th Ron Paul Moneybomb! -Until May 17th you can pledge there, (not sure if it just reminds you or can take your cash early) and then on the 17th it will take over the front page of Ronpaul2012.com.

Thanks again, bro, and I hope this teaches media.net a real lesson.

I've received several emails from them, but never signed up because of negative comments in another WickedFire thread. I even replied to one of the emails to explain that I was hesitant about doing business with them because of that thread. They didn't bother replying. That's a great way to run a company.
