Men Who Stare at Screens | NYTIMES

No excuse for not working out or moving, walking doing something..

What was unexpected was that many of the men who sat long hours and developed heart problems also exercised. Quite a few of them said they did so regularly and led active lifestyles. The men worked out, then sat in cars and in front of televisions for hours, and their risk of heart disease soared, despite the exercise. Their workouts did not counteract the ill effects of sitting.

We're fucked.

Yeah, haven't yet built a Turbostation. After reading an article a couple months ago (last time this type thread surfaced) on how sitting (even in awesome steelcase leap chairs) is killing you I started standing while i work for an hour a day.

I've since stopped that (lazy) but this article got me standing again, right now in fact. :D

Yeah I saw this article earlier makes me wanna step up on building my treaddesk

This article only pertains to men, time to get that sex change I've been thinking about... always wondered what it would be like to be a woman (no homo)

SOLUTION = Regular Timed Interval Starjumps ;)

ha ha works for me and weight set sitting next to the work desk :)

would also like to get a boxing bag

Also you got owned if you do not read the original research.

That article is an example in shitty journalism.

Its states "exercise does not counter the ill effects" whereas the original paper states "vigorous exercise seems to counter the effects of long periods of inactivity".

Reading comprehension FTW.
