Missing laptop - Do I have a chance to recover with an curious IP login?

So my lap top up and went missing. Big fucking bummer, nothing more nothing less than that.

I don't know much about where to start retrieval but I did some googling and found that you can see last 10 IP logins into gmail.

And wouldn't you know it, but the last log in to my Gmail address gives me a Bronx locale, which is more recent than my last login was from where I used the laptop last (mid-town Manhattan).

Is this info from whatismyipaddress.com anything to go on?

Put the longitude and latitude into Google maps to get a physical address. When you get there knock on the door and sound all nice and shit. Like "Yo, this is publishers clearing house!" Then when the guy answers the door, kick his face in, snatch your laptop ... fuck it just grab the first laptop you see and break the fuck outta there quick style.

Well, it did give me that someone opened the computer and checked it out. And that I shouldn't expect any phone calls from someone who found it and is holding it for me.

So I'm on craigslist looking. Will get serial number tonight, back at home.

Your only chance is to speak to police as they're the only ones who can get the registrant information off of the ISP.
