According to some friends at Miva today I've been told that MIVA has sold their search division to Adknowledge for $11.6M. Now its not the whole company that was sold, just one of the three divisions. So it looks like from now on, MIVA will only be concentrating on their ALOT.com brand of products.

The sale is pretty cheap too considering how much volume and business MIVA is involved in within the secondary traffic market or as others know of it as "2nd tier traffic". They do more searches per month than Google does, but then again, they charge waaaaay less for traffic and the traffic itself isn't what I'd consider amazing either. But there is still a ton of cash to be made from them.

This probably works out best for Adknowledge because not only do they have a solid email marketing platform but now they'll have acquired a huge and robust search platform too for a pretty cheap price. They are also getting most of the employees who worked under this MIVA division so they get the product and the people, which is amazing for them.

If you're looking for more details on the story, you can look at their press release source found here: MIVA, Inc. Completes All-Cash Asset Sale of MIVA Media Business to Adknowledge - Yahoo! Finance

They acquired what was formerly Findwhat and all that came with it. In other words MIVA Direct (aka Alot.com) is the only MIVA Inc department now.
