finally getting mobile broadband for my laptop and nobodies got unlimited plans anymore. the phone company is telling me it's the US government that implemented the limits, but that sounds like bullshit to me.

did all the carriers get together and pull this shit so they can hit us with overages or is uncle sam really fucking us in the ass like that?

is 5gb enough? how much do you guys use on your laptops each month? i plan on being mobile all summer.

Yeah what is this shit? I'm trying to get internet on the go for my laptop but I heard you get charged after a certain limit of bandwidth used?

actually sometimes the companies can drop you from the plan if you do more than 5GB, depends on the provider

I surf pretty heavily on my phone and I've tethered it to my laptop too. I've never used anywhere near 5gigs. I might downgrade to a 200mb deal, but then I'd have to stop watching videos and downloading music when im tethered. The overage charges are ridiculous, not the caps.

I have sprint and its unlimited

Not sure if new accounts can get that right now / anymore though

Ive had it for 3-4 years maybe longer

I have verizon. Good coverage and plenty fast enough. Never gone anywhere near the 5g limit until I moved an had to share with my son (videos and downloads) a week or so till got home connected.. and went a bit over the 5g.
I love it because I get the broadband pretty much anywhere and it's like $50 a month or something.

Thanks for the heads up on this guys. I didn't even think about using the phone.

Palm Pre Will Support Sprint's ''Phone As Modem''

Many of Sprint's smartphones support tethering. This is a service that this wireless carrier charges extra for: $15 a month. This upcoming model's specifications show that it will allow users to tether over Bluetooth.
Now that sounds tight. Funny, Sprint failed to tell me I could just pay $15 extra instead of $60, fuckers.
