Mods get a clue and lose the captcha

even when I am just visiting Thailand, this shit will get really old, really fast.

Considering this isn't a murikan-only forum, this seems like a really bad move by Jon. Perhaps he can't afford the traffic bill each month anymore? :evil_laughter:

The internet over there blows, so good luck accessing anything if you're just visiting and haven't bought your own internet.

I always used a vpn (strongvpn) when I was over there and it made things much faster by bypassing whatever retarded filtering they use.

I can understand why you're already coming up with excuses for not moving to thailand after saying you would if ron paul didn't win the election.

Using a VPN isn't really a viable option, I generally check WF while doing other tasks (uploading big files for example). I don't really want to slow down my net connection for that.

Yes I realize I can use firefox plugins to make it work but it's still a giant hassle and the fact that cloudflare can't remember your IP address for a single session is retarded.

Using a vpn in thailand actually sped my connection up considerably.

Shows what you know, moron. I was connecting at 10x faster in BKK than I do here on Time Warner. Apparently you didn't know anyone who could get you the 100MB connection?

Lulz.

We'll see about that, nazicakes. -But let's not pollute this thread with more Paul arguments though, ok? This is a legit problem that Jon should consider for the health of his forum.

I'm really dubious about this point because you're still on SOME Thai ISP at some point though, right?

You must have bought your time warner modem at the dollar store. I can see they're advertising 200MB connections on true (which didn't exist when I was there), but you're not getting anywhere near that on any website outside of the country.

And yes, a VPN will speed up your connection by bypassing filtering.

Edit:

Just checked, and their "200MB" internet costs about $300 USD a month, and is cable which has lousy coverage. I had the fastest dsl (no cable internet where I was at) for $100something a month which was listed at 50down, but I rarely saw above 10 actual, unless I was using a vpn.

Wow, they've bumped up to 200Mb since I last looked. Awesome.

In contrast, this is what you get when you go to Time Warner's road runner internet packages right now here in Kansas:

So basically, I still can get a ten-fold fatter pipe in BKK than I can here in KS, within walking distance of the Sprint world headquarters. (Until the googlenet fiber is in place, at least.)

Thanks for helping me prove my point, cakes.

So when I test my 20Mb connection I usually see something like 5-10 Mb downstream speed. 1/2 to 1/4 of advertised in practical use.

Are you telling me that the government filter on bandwidth in BKK is so serious that instead of 1/2 to 1/4 I'd lose something like 95/100ths?

The 100Mb connection I had in BKK in January was FAR snappier than my home connection here is now.

All depends on the tech who installed your internet line, and whether or not you bought them whiskey. :)

We had True installed here, and it was great... for a week. Then one of the dogs unplugged the modem, which for some reason broke the internet. Couple days later a tech was here who "fixed" the internet, and since then it's been as slow as dial-up.

True is now used as the downstairs internet connection, and the one I'm nice enough to share with the neighbor. 3BB is for me only, and on the whole, can't complain. Goes does every once in a while for an hour or two, but in those cases, I switch over to the True connection.

Internet in Thailand is perfectly fine. I have no problem downloading at full speed. The internet in Cambodia, on the other hand, fucking blows. I was paying 120 USD a month for a 1 Mbit/sec connection! I never had Captcha problems in Cambodia though.

I started having Captcha problems with the forum in Thailand this week, but I requested to have my IP address white listed and all is good now. You can send a message to the forum admin on the Captcha screen.

You guys can keep your awesome internet in the US and I will settle for banging Asian whores. Enjoy your porn ;-)

This sounds like a 3rd world problem... Or 2nd world, as long as it's not a 1st world problem, the major of us should be moving along. This is where Slumdog Millionaire 2 should start. So we can go to the movies and say "shit, sucks to be over there... Someone, not me or my government of course, should do something about it." motherfucker we go to the movies to watch poor people... Shit is cray...
