Moniker.com sucks

If they could ever get Godaddy style support and no suck like GoDaddy they would be un-stoppable.

This is why I stick with GoDaddy. The customer service has always been top notch. My rep has always looked after us and I've not experienced any of the horror stories other have.

The interactions I had with Moniker were weak at best. They totally screwed up on two different occasions when I submitted domains for auction.

I'm slowly moving my names away from Moniker, their interface hasn't changed for years and i'm just wearing my credits down as I put in a few thousand when they were going to offer some things they ended up never doing.

They used to cater to hard core and paranoid domainers with security features and decent bulk pricing (less than their public bulk pricing) but that's changed.

I just noticed that my pricing at moniker which used to be lower than the advertised pricing is now the same as the normal pricing. They also want $4 to renew my $1 whois privacy upgrades.

My privacy renewals are at $2 a year, email your account rep to see what's up, I know Monte (old owner) used to be reasonable but Oversee had other plans plus they have to cover those affiliate payouts somehow. Charging me $6 for URL and email forwarding is a joke when others give it away for free though. It's aimed at domainers who buy a chunk, put in their DNS and leave it since doing anything else is a pain using their interface. They did launch their affiliate program in the end but were promising more reseller like options as well in the beginning which never materialised.

If you're into Privacy then Fabulous.com offers it for free on their registrations and they're good with bulk pricing and a solid reputation.

I split my names between enom and Fabulous now but will probably move everything to enom as the names are free due to my sub-account customers. I'm surprised more people on here don't use enom, best managed DNS and email forwarding i've seen and it's free.

I even did a domain lookup, it said it was available, added it to my cart, then paid for it. It then canceled my order afterward cause the domain was already taken!

2nd complaint in this thread about something similar ... why aren't you guys checking for availability by direct whois queries? That's the only solution in my books.
