Probably because they actually let people cancel, and don't sign the customer up for multiple, non-related automatic negative option billing services?

Yeah visa gets a cut of every transaction, are they going to give their cut of the monies back to consumers? nope.

As one sucked in by columbia house years ago in college they're nearly impossible to cancel.

If I could pay $5,000 to charity to punch the ceo in the face I'd double it and use a bat - I'll send a check tonight.

In this regard they're terrible, the issue however IMO is they DO service you- that is you DO get your CD's, and customer support DOES pick up the phone, even though they basically are scripted to only give you one answer: GO FUCK YOURSELF.

affiliates need to start caring about upsells. they are ruining the industry and only bring in money for the advertiser. most ppl won't get too pissed if they get enrolled for some charge that they can cance. But if you make it almost impossible to cancel... its obviously that you are going to get a very high amount of chargebacks.

Yep... plus something equally important: the terms of the deal are clear. Everyone knows they're committed to buying X# of CD's over the next several months once they accept the initial offer.

Visa's not hating on all rebills. Just the deceptive ones where the customer doesn't really know what the offer is (i.e. the T&C's are in tiny text all the way at the bottom of the page or a certain box is pre-ticked during the checkout process).

Of course, consumers should read all fine print - but they don't - and that's not going to change. Hence it's a tradeoff: make the offer transparent, take the hit in conversions for the sake of longevity or bury the terms of the offer for short term profits. Give and take.

Agreed. I hope some of these advertisers are watching what is going down right now to one of the shadiest guys out there right now and thinking twice before adding these forced upsells and/or worse. Bad news.

I believe the CPA Networks need to step up there game and start actually digging deep on the advertisers they bring in. Isn't that part of there Job why the fucked would i go through a CPA network if that wasn't the case. CPA Networks taking garbage shady advertisers fuck it up for all of us.

Yes I know cause they pay too another reason.

Do you think the Advertisers actually use the correct processor codes for what they do?

When VISA did this shit back in 2000 to stop the online casinos, they simply changed their merchant code to like "bookstore" and fooled everyone... for awhile, it never lasts forever, but then they switch to a new code, new company, repeat, etc.

Uhh...no? Did I say that?

Reading comprehension FTW.

Everything is a rebill - you car lease payment, your phone bill, your TV bill, your water bill your mortgage payment, your CREDIT CARD BILL....

The entire economy is built on rebills. There is nothing wrong with recurring billing - fraud is fraud whether it's pitching a subscription, the statue of liberty or magnetic bracelets.
