Saw a pretty cool thread here a few months ago that had some pretty cool home theatre set ups.

I have Wifi on 2 TVs (Samsung Smart & Vizio Aps) and would like to figure out a way to stream movies to the TV from my computer.

Hardwire is not an option. Wifi Only

Simple is what I am looking for. Can I do this without all this slingbox, roku roomba stuff?

Basically looking to download torrents and get them up on the TV.

If the tv has wifi built in there should probably be some kind of dlna viewer on it. Try installing a media server like ps3 media server or Tversity and see if it comes up on the tv. Otherwise, get a ps3 and stream your porn, i mean movies that way.

The Apple TV2 + XBMC is the best combo i've found so far, but I have a fully wired setup.

I usually can watch movies up to 3 GB on my iPad (XBMC) streamed via Wireless N. However the really good quality HD movies will choke pretty bad.

It will also depend on YOUR hardware. The new router "EA4500" from Cisco has a built in DNLA server so you could connect an external NAS / HD and stream via the router. This is most likely your most feasible option as it won't require any additional software to stream to your TV's.

You'll need to test out the capability of the Samsung WiFi to see what it can and cannot stream.

If all else fails I would try the Ethernet over power-line systems.

First he said hardwire, like a cat5 cable.

Can't a troll troll no more?

Roku is the shit. Pair it with Plex. This is if you prefer to pay for your shit, with netflix, amazon vod, hulu, etc etc.

If you do not pay, XBMC will do you as good as anything.

I hear Plex works fine if you don't pay for your shit.

Yeah I have been messing with different setups. The streaming options worked for me, but about half the time the stream would screw up a bit and go out of sync, audio/video distortions etc. This was streaming Wifi direct to my Vizio SmartTV through Tversity, Serviio from my PC etc. Some files played fine though.

It got annoying so now I just load my stuff on to an external drive and plug into my TV via USB. Doing it this way I've only had issues playing ".mkv" files on my Vizio. If I upgraded to a "deluxe" router or whatever it might solve the issue, but if your TV supports USB you can do that at least temporarily until getting a wireless setup finalized.

Love Dish!

Dish network came out with a new system in March called the Hopper and Joey. This thing absolutely rocks!

2 TerraByte drive. It records all 4 primetime stations from 7pm-10pm every night at the same time while you can still record two different shows. All those primetime shows are kept for 8 days or you can choose to just DVR as usual.

Biggest thing for me however that it automatically detects any Win7 PC etc. (I'm sure you can connect to any DNLA device). It's really been amazing. No long configurations etc.. They just hooked up the system, it autodetected my PC's and I could play anything shared. When technology works its great.

Visual quality looks amazing. Only thing I have to bitch about is that it doesn't like divx, etc. Looks like primarily .MP4 and .avi.

Also, you have full access to the old Blockbuster online catalog. They make about 300 movies available to you for free when you don't have the Blockbuster subscription and I think its $10 more a month you can look at any of their 13,000+ movies. Not a HUGE selection of HD stuff yet.

I remember how difficult it used to be sharing across networks and this is just fool proof!
