MOVING to Iceland

I'm seriously considering this and currently arranging paperwork for a student visa (University of Reykjavik).

For the record I currently stay in India and hate the heat & pollution here. I know "Iceland is green & Greenland is ice" but the place is fucking beautiful & I'm sold on the geothermal pools & northern lights. Also this.

It **seems** to be an expensive place to live in but there are good deals all over. My friend has already sourced an apartment for $350/mo in Reykjavik (where the advertised rate for such is $1500-2000). A decent truck will make living there awesome!

Anyone reading this ever been there?
 


Have you thought this through? I mean Greenland can be a fucked up place if you dont know what to do there. If you are going for education....well, you may land up getting someone else fucked. But you need to think this through. Dont make hasty decisions because of some simple carbon monoxide. If you want experience a fucked up lifestyle move to Jamaica. Those SOBs have pistols they carry around with them even when the go on a picnic. Fuck knows if you want to picnic in Iceland but think it through. Recommendation is always appreciated.
 
icelandic chicks are fuckin hiliarious and hottttt

Easiest to score on ever. They barely see any new guys ever so if you go there or meet them at some vacation spot in europe, its a guaranteed lay.

Some chicks told me that if you want to get married nowadays, you have to perform a genetic test first to check if you're not too closely related to your future husband. Ya, thats one of the problems that emerge when there are only 100k ppl on an island. Idk if that's true tho.

Still, its a country to visit if you can get a cheap airfare. Its friggin expensive to fly there nowadays since iceland air and iceland express control pretty much every flight that goes there..

I can get to NY for $600 but I will have to pay $800+ for a flight to Iceland..
 
I was only there for a week, but I loved the place, the country is so beautiful, and the nightlife is awesome, great choice!

Iceland would be one of my top 5 countries in Europe to live in, and I've been to almost every country in Europe :)

Pretty sure every citizen of Iceland has had their entire DNA sequenced as part of the deCODE Project. I also remember reading that one of the interesting things they learned from the database is that the women of Iceland are pretty unfaithful, because something like 1 out of 4 kids turned out to not be the child of their supposed father. That's probably true everywhere though.

Iceland not Greenland. I'm not interested in education, just accompanying a friend of mine + university is probably the best way to score girls. If I don't like it I'll just drop out & come back home. As for the plane ticket, apparently Mumbai> London/Paris> Helsinki > Keflavik works out to about $1500 which is not bad...relatively. (skipping Helsinki makes it about 4k)

I think it's pretty true everywhere. If you've read Sperm Wars it talks about that kind of thing. For some reason a figure of 15% rings a bell but I would have to check.

Iceland looks awesome! I'm having some white girl withdrawal symptoms, so I might as well hit up the whitest country in the world.

funny story....I had just moved to dallas to set up a dish network call center.

I had hired and trained 40 reps already and I was going to let the owner of comp. give a pep talk to the crowd.

First thing he says is

"I dont mean no disrespect but if your gonna be working here , you have to inform us of any weapons on your possesion."

I watched 25 people pull handguns from there purses/pockets/briefcases.

Supposedly no felonies and a day class equals a permit to carry.

Love the concept - MAD theory at its best...
